Hi there! I’m April J Harris of The 21st Century Housewife, a frequent traveller, writer, housewife, mother, recipe developer & blogger. I’m passionate about encouraging others to enjoy life to the full and I want to encourage everyone to really enjoy family life – whatever form their family takes – and wherever family life takes them.
I grew up in Ontario, Canada. In my early twenties, I emigrated to England, a writer armed with great secretarial skills and a desire to see the world. I met my very own Prince Charming not long after I arrived and we were married 18 months later. Over the years, we’ve lived all over England and travelled the world. Travel is a really big part of who we are; there are almost always suitcases – either being packed or unpacked – somewhere in our house! We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary earlier this year and have a grown up son.
The 21st Century Housewife
I began writing what would become The 21st Century Housewife back in the late 1990’s, as a collection of essays to encourage other housewives and stay at home moms/mums like myself. The 21st Century Housewife website launched in October 2002. Over the years it evolved into a comprehensive lifestyle blog with a loyal reader base.
In August 2014, just before my 12th blogging anniversary, I rebranded and relaunched The 21st Century Housewife at www.apriljharris.com. Featuring delicious recipes and lots of family, travel and style, AprilJHarris.com has become a trusted resource for readers worldwide.
