Holiday Cookies from The Hearth and Soul Hop

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Hearth and Soul Hop. Hearth and Soul is a blog hop for recipes using healthy ingredients, family and comfort food recipes, articles about healthy living, real/slow/local/sustainable food, foraging, herbal remedies, organics and gardening.

How are the holiday preparations going in your house? I’m a bit behind sending my Christmas cards, but I’m getting there! This week I’ve been making Brandy and Mincemeat Cake as well as my late Aunt Irene’s delicious Christmas Squares.

Homemade holiday cookies are among my favourite treats so I’m featuring some of the cookies that were shared with the Hearth and Soul Hop last week.

What’s your favourite holiday cookie? I’d love it if you’d let me know in the comments. As for me, it’s pretty rare for me to meet a holiday cookie I don’t like!!

My favorite Christmas cookies are called Peppermint Sticks. Its a bar cookie–basically chocolate chip cookie dough with crushed candy canes on top. Nothing fancy…it’s more about the memories. They were my great-grandpa’s fav and my great-grandma made them each year.
