Metallics for Fall 2014

Metallics for Fall 2014
Metallics for Fall 2014 were highlighted in one of the catwalk shows at The Oracle’s Autumn Fashion Fix this weekend in Reading and they are fast becoming one of my favourite trends for this season.  A world away from the overdone metallics of the eighties, today’s metallics are showing up in beauty and fashion, and can be as low key or standout as you like.

What I love about modern metallics is that you can personalise them to suit your style and personal comfort zone. Jazz up a monochromatic look with a pair of high shine trousers or a glittering sweater. Highlight your look with a gold clutch or fabulous pair of shoes. Metallic belts, bags and shoes are a great way to dabble in this trend until you feel more comfortable with it.  You may find that this pop of metallic accent will be all that you need to work this key trend or you may find metallics absolutely addictive and find yourself using them more and more.

Perfect for both day and evening as well as a great way to work an office to evening out transition, metallics are versatile and perfect for everyone. True, rocking a top to toe metallic look is probably best reserved for the younger fashionistas among us but leveraged properly, this is not a trend that leaves out any age group.

Low-key metallics, like this black and silver sparkle loose knit jumper by Reiss, work well for casual or more formal looks. A great metallic jumper offers low-key glamour without making you look overdressed or layer a looser sweater over a high neck jumper with jeans for a more casual look. I couldn’t resist the black and silver sparkle jumper and purchased it immediately following the show!

Metallic tights dress up legs this season and combined with a simple sparkling clutch bag can take your classic LBD to new heights. Alternatively keep your tights neutral and add a fabulous pair of metallic heels.

Texture and shine are both highlighted in this beautiful Biba ensemble. The pleated skirt and printed tailored jacket are accessorized by a phase Eight Bronze Weave Clutch bag and Dune gold sparkle pointed heels. I’d pair this beautiful blazer with jeans and a plain blouse for a casual but elegant evening look for a holiday dinner with friends. I’d also work these lovely skirt, tights and shoes with non-metallic sweater.

Whether you pick and choose your metallics for fall 2014 or simply dabble in gorgeous glittery gold shoes or a shiny bag, don’t miss out! Fun, flirty and seriously fabulous, this wearable trend shows signs of staying around for a long time.
