Welcome to the Hearth and Soul, the blog hop for recipes using healthy ingredients, family and comfort food recipes, articles about healthy living, real /slow/ local/sustainable food, foraging, herbal remedies, organics and gardening.

I’m in London, Ontario now, after a lovely few days in New York City celebrating our son’s 21st birthday.

The Hearth and Soul Hop

The winter storm that is battering the east coast found us in NYC and has followed us up to Ontario. I’m very grateful we’ve gotten to our destination safely, albeit a little late. Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers to all those worse affected by this powerful storm.

As our son has finished college here in Canada, we are packing up his apartment this week. The movers are coming on Thursday and then we are heading to Toronto for a bit more visiting and sightseeing before we all head home to England on Sunday. It’s both the end of an era and a wonderful new beginning, all at the same time!

This week I’m featuring two delicious recipes:-

Raspberry Cheesecake Bars from Baker Becky

Gluten Free Cut Out Biscuits

Gluten Free Baking Powder Biscuits from Frugal Farm Wife

I hope that 2014 has started well for you and that wherever you are you are safe, warm and dry! Right, on with the hop –

  6. Wow, what a momentous occasion. Is your son going to relax for the winter or does he have plans? I’m sure it is wonderful to get to spend some time with him. Sorry, you hit the East coast when we are having such intense weather. NYC is usually fairly mild in the winter. Well good luck to you all and enjoy your visit.

    • Thank you, Diane 🙂 Alex is already doing some freelance work so we are really pleased. He definitely had a good relax in NYC though 🙂

I had forgotten how cold it can be here on the East Coast. Apparently it’s going to warm up to nearer zero over the next couple days – fingers crossed 🙂

  8. All I can say is I’m glad I’m not in the Eastern part of the country. Thank you for hosting!
