My Favourite Beauty Products of 2011

Untitled-1

I’ve had some emails recently asking about skin care and makeup products, particularly from people who have read my Where’s The Glamour page. I firmly believe that beauty comes from within and isn’t something you can buy in a bottle or a jar, but we all need a bit of help now and then and these are products that I find very useful. It’s one thing to be sent a product and test it, but for me the proof is when I subsequently go out and buy it for myself more than once,. That is something I have done with all the products listed below. In fact, if you could look in my vanity drawers, you would find everything I mention inside.

Unfortunately, some of these products are expensive. I budget for them because they work so well for me. If you are going to invest in a costly skin care or beauty product, ask for a sample or demonstration first and make sure your first purchase is in a small quantity, regardless of how much you save by buying a bigger one! There is nothing more upsetting than buying a high end product only to be disappointed in it. We are all different and just because a product is one of my favourites, it doesn’t mean that it is right for everyone.

Now, without further ado,

My Top 10 Skin Care and Beauty Products

Eye Bright by Liz Earle – Applying cooling and gentle Eye Bright on cotton wool pads refreshes and brightens my eye area.

Daily Microfoliant by Demalogica – This super gentle daily exfoliant is suitable for even my very sensitive and fragile skin.

Crème de la Mer – The best moisturizer I have ever used. I notice a huge difference in my skin when I use this wonderful product. It is an investment, but this product works for me and I would not be without it.

Prevage Eye Advanced Anti-Aging Serum – Another indulgence, this product has allowed me to keep my eye area fairly line free, and it’s reduced my dark circles as well.

Love Your Life Lines by Mama Mio – I discovered this product at an event in San Diego held by Momtrends, and have used it ever since. I apply it specifically to any areas of concern before my foundation, pressing it in lightly.

Coco by Chanel – Although it is impossible to recommend a perfume to someone else as everyone needs to find their own signature fragrance, this has been mine for well over 15 years. I wear it with everything from jeans to ball gowns, and I never leave home without it!

Christian Dior Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup – This long lasting foundation evens my skin tone and hydrates without looking ‘made up’.

Diorshow Maximiser Lash Plumping Serum – Enhances and conditions lashes before mascara application. Beware, it’s addictive – I didn’t know I needed this till I started using it, and now I won’t be without it!

Diorshow Extase Mascara – Until last year I was a diehard fan of the ordinaryDiorshow mascara, but I’m now a convert. Extase conditions and thickens lashes giving an almost faux lash effect, but not so much that it is too much for everyday.

Bobbi Brown Ultimate Party Collection Palette – I love Bobbi Brown palettes, and this is my favourite from last year’s collection. At first glance you might think the shadows are a bit dark and sparkly, but the consultants at the counter can show you just how wearable they are. Eight fantastic shadows and four lip glosses feature in this compact collection – perfect for my handbag, and suitable for everyday use.
