The Hearth and Soul Hop Link Party April 20

The Hearth and Soul Hop Link Party
The Hearth and Soul Hop Link Party is the link party for all things home and family – family and comfort food recipes, healthy and sustainable living posts, homemaking, gardening, kids, crafts and DIY. We love thought provoking, encouraging and inspiring posts too. Welcome!

I hope you have had a wonderful week and weekend! Last week was a busy one for me. I spent a lot the week in London and was lucky enough to stay at the iconic Savoy Hotel once again. I can’t wait to share this beautiful hotel with you in an upcoming post!

April J Harris and Gretchen RubinI enjoyed meeting author Gretchen Rubin last Tuesday evening. Gretchen gave a fascinating talk about the nature of habits at The Conde Nast Fashion Institute in London  in support of her new book ‘Better Than Before‘. If you have a habit you’d like to create in your life or one you’d like to break, this is the book for you. I’m about half way through my copy of Better Than Before at the moment and I’m finding it hard to put down!

Wednesday I attended a new product launch (more details to come!) and on Thursday I was at a Madeleine Masterclass hosted by Bonne Maman.

Eric Lanlard at Bonne Maman eventFrench pâtissiere and celebrity chef, Eric Lanlard, demonstrated how to make a gorgeous Summer Fruits and Madeleine Charlotte Cake. I’ll be sharing the recipe – and some of Eric’s top baking tips – with you later this week!

Also last week, I shared a post about the wonderful Nuffield Place.

Nuffield Place Henley on Thames

This beautiful property has remained virtually unchanged since the 1930’s so you can almost step back in time when you visit!

Thank you so much to everyone who shared recipes and posts last week! Today I’m featuring two gluten free recipes made with cauliflower as well as a helpful gardening post.

  1. Hi April,

Thanks for the feature. Sure sounds like you had a busy week.

Today I’m linking up a BLT Romaine and Egg Salad with Mustard Dressing recipe. It’s the first in what will be a year long series of ’52 (mostly seasonal) Salad Recipes’.

    Have a good week!
    — Laureen

    • My pleasure, Laureen! Your recipe for this week sounds delicious too! I like the idea of 52 salad recipes – I’ll look forward to the series! Hope you have a good week too 🙂

  2. Wow, what an adventure. I would love to stay at the Savoy how elegant. Interesting author and amazing madeline cake. Love following the things you do. Thanks for the party.

  3. Hi April,
My goodness you have been a busy girl, I just love your journey and feel like I am right there with you. I am sharing my Blueberry Thyme Pie with everyone today, it has a very different and delicious flavor. I am really excited about the upcoming birth of the Royal Baby, what do you think, boy or girl? Hope you are having a great week and thanks so much for the party!
    Miz Helen

    • Thank you so much, Miz Helen! I love the idea of your Blueberry Thyme Pie – it sounds just wonderful! I look forward to visiting the post. I’m excited about the upcoming birth of the Royal Baby too. A lot of folks are saying they think the baby is a girl. That would be lovely of course but I have a feeling the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge may have another little boy 🙂

  4. April thank you for hosting, and can’t wait to see and read about your stay in London

  5. April thank you for the lovely party! I always enjoy reading about your travels and adventures. Better Than Before sounds like a book I would love to read- thank you for introducing it to us! Hope your week has started off well! 🙂

    • Thank you, Judee – there really are some great posts linked up already 🙂 Love the sound of your salad – I’m always looking for ways to serve yellow beets. I can never decide which sort of beets I like best – the purple ones, the pink ones or the yellow ones 🙂

  8. Hi April,
Thanks for hosting another party. I know how difficult it is for a busy lady like you.

  9. You’ve had a busy week!
