Welcome to the Hearth and Soul Hop Link Party! We love thought-provoking, encouraging and inspiring posts too.

Be Kind To Yourself at The Hearth and Soul Hop
I’m back home in the UK now and looking forward to celebrating my birthday on Friday. It’s a significant birthday – more about that later on the blog – and it’s got me thinking. I’ve written a lot about self acceptance and self esteem over the years and one of the vintage posts I want to highlight this week is Just As You Are. If you are anything but content in the skin you are in, please read this post and be encouraged! I also think that we all need to Be Kinder to Ourselves and I hope you will check out my easy tips to help you do that.

Oven Baked Crispy Mediterranean Chicken
Last week I shared my very popular ‘faux fried’ chicken as featured in my Crispy Mediterranean Chicken. This recipe has a creamy cucumber sauce and is perfect for summer.

Villa America - a review

Also, if you are looking for a great summer read, don’t miss my review of Villa America by Liza Klaussmann.

This week I am featuring:-

A really helpful post from Crystal & Co – Over 80 Wondrous and Fun Summer Activities for Kid

Egg in a Roll at the Hearth and Soul Hop
Delicious breakfast or brunch inspiration from Hadia’s Lebanese Cuisine – Eggs in a Crusty Bowl of Bread. A wonderful twist on Egg in the Hole, Hadia’s recipe features mushrooms & grated cheese too.

Lovely Pillows at The Hearth and Soul Hop
LuAnn’s step by step instructions for Creating Simply Lovely Pillows at Lovely Livings make it easy to transform ordinary pillows into something really special.

  1. Hi April,
What a great group of features, I would love those eggs. Thanks so much for the party and hope you have a great week!
    Miz Helen

  2. Thank you so much, April, for featuring my egg with crusty bowl of bread recipe! You made my day! And happy birthday in advance, wishing you health, love, happiness and everything your heart desires!

  3. Thank you for the party, April! I hope you have a wonderful day this Friday! 🙂

  4. Funny you are home for a significant birthday. I tend to run off for mine. Spent my 30th in Istanbul and my 50th in Paris. .. maybe staying home and facing the music is better idea. Have a good one.

    • Thank you, Diane 🙂 And it’s funny you mention that, I was just thinking about it myself! Often we are in California for my birthday – our trip was earlier this year – and last year come to think of it 🙂 I had my 40th in Paris – it’s such a great place to celebrate! I wanted to be ‘home’ this year so our son could be with us – although we’ll be celebrating in London and staying at one of my favourite hotels. My husband and I are off to Paris the following weekend for his University Alumni weekend – although I’m working on extending my birthday celebrations too 😉

  5. Is that your garden? It is lovely. Thank you so much for the party and I hope you have a fantastic birthday celebration.

    • Thank you so much! It is actually a garden from The Chelsea Flower show a couple of years ago – I loved it so much I just had to use it for that post 🙂

  6. Hi April! Thank you so much for the lovely feature on my chandelier pillows. I’m very happy and grateful for the spotlight. I hope you have a wonderful birthday on Friday! Enjoy!
    Have a lovely week!
    LuAnn 😉

  7. Can’t wait to hear about your significant birthday!! Have a great birthday week!

  8. Thanks April for hosting this great party! Pinned and shared and hope to see you on Saturday!

    • My pleasure, Joanne! Thank you for sharing too! I’ve been over to Say G’Day Saturday this week – it’s such a fun party, a great way to get to know other bloggers and discover great new recipes and tutorials!

  9. Thanks for being the hostess with the mostest. Happy birthday for the whole month. A week is just not enough and certainly a day is too short.

  10. Hi April,
Thanks for hosting and Happy birthday in advance, enjoy your day. I will read that post -“Just as you are”
I am very busy with the celebration of my blog’s first anniversary, if you are interested then please join.

  12. Want to hear more about this significant birthday 🙂 Thanks for the great party!

  13. Thanks for hosting, April! I’m slowly getting back into joining linky parties.

I can’t wait to read Crystal’s post. I’m on the hunt for activities for my 11 year old son who is worried about being bored, but doesn’t have many ideas of his own.

  14. Thanks for the party, April!! Hope you are having a great week!

  15. April, I love that top photo! Is that your garden? I linked to a yummy recipe and just hope I don’t regret what I’ve called it! 😀

    • Hi Jean, Sadly it’s a photo I took at the Chelsea Flower Show! I do have a lovely garden – but not as lovely as that 😉 I think your recipe sounds delicious – I look forward to visiting your post!
