It’s time to party at The Ultimate Blog Party 2014!

This is my first time participating in The Ultimate Blog Party and I’m really excited about it! This amazing virtual party goes on until April 11 and is a great way to make new friends, discover great new blogs and increase your connections. There are also lots of prizes to be won so be sure to visit the party page and join in!

As part of the party, we are all asked to write a post sharing a bit about us and our blogs.

About Me
I’m April Harris and I started The 21st Century Housewife all the way back in 2002 – which makes me a bit of a blogging veteran as I’ve been at it for over a twelve years now. I originally founded The 21st Century Housewife solely as a website to encourage other housewives and stay at home moms but over the years it has evolved into a comprehensive lifestyle website sharing information, tips and trends for everyone who loves food, cooking, entertaining, fashion, travel and the finer things in life. There’s a big focus on family, food and travel as well as ideas to help you maintain balance in your busy lifestyle. If you’d like to learn more about the history of The 21st Century Housewife please click here.

I’m a housewife, mother and writer living in a Berkshire village in the south of England. My husband and I have been together for twenty-five years this month – married for twenty-three – and we have one son aged twenty-one. I grew up in Canada and came to England when I was in my twenties. I’m proud to be a citizen of two such wonderful countries. My family and I love to travel and it is a big part of our lives.

I’ve been writing ever since I can remember and my recipes and articles have been featured in several publications including The Chicago Sun Times online,,, Olive magazine and Love It! magazine. I am currently working on my first book.

If you’d like to learn more about me please visit my About Me page.

I’m passionate about encouraging others to enjoy life to the full and part of this is my enthusiasm for fresh, local, seasonal food and homemade recipes. Every week I co-host The Hearth and Soul Blog Hop where a community of foodies shares their favourite family and comfort food recipes. The Hearth and Soul Hop goes live every Monday evening and I would love to see you there.

That’s me – I look forward to meeting lots more of you at the Ultimate Blog Party. Please feel free to leave a comment so I can be sure to visit your blog. You can also find me on Facebook, Twitter and Google +. I now have a blog page on Google + too. There’s more social media links in the sidebar – if you follow me please be sure to let me know so I can follow back!

  7. Hello April,
It’s nice to meet a veteran. I’ve only been blogging for three years, but I have no intention of ever stopping. I’m totally hooked on all things blogging related.
Like you, I have been writing ever since I can remember. I love writing with a passion. I haven’t made it big because I do tend to back down when it comes to doing things big with my writing a lot more than I should. However, I do feel blessed to do it and have this help our lifestyle.
I’m glad we got to meet thanks to the #UBP14.
