Welcome to the August Edition of The Hearth and Soul Link Party! How is your summer (or winter if you are in the Southern Hemisphere) going so far? As you can see, I’m definitely making the most of summer!
The Hearth and Soul Link Party welcomes family-friendly blog posts about anything that feeds the soul. Things that feed the soul may include (but are not limited to) recipes, decorating, crafts, family, home, DIY, organization, travel, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.

The August Edition – What’s New?
As this post goes live my husband and I are travelling home from the USA, having spent two weeks in California (a work trip for my husband) followed by a week’s vacation in Hawaii.
I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with many of our friends in California. Highlights included catching up with friends from Singapore, lunch with author and website designer Pauline Wiles, and a dinner with Sandi Gaertner of Fearless Dining and her husband. Sandi has just launched another website called Does This Have Gluten?
My husband and I also enjoyed revisiting The 17 Mile Drive one weekend. We had a lovely lunch at Roy’s in Spanish Bay and enjoyed a walk on the beach afterwards. I’ve been sharing some of our adventures on Instagram.
Hawaii was wonderful as always, and I’ve already got some travel stories and tips ready to share with you. It is so lovely to be travelling again, and to have an actual vacation of more than a couple of days. We are looking forward to making the most of the rest of August at home, with more travel planned in the autumn.
New On The Blog
I’m getting ready for Autumn and Christmas on the blog, but in real life, I’m definitely in summer mode. It’s time to relax, rejuvenate and restore. There are busy seasons to come but we all need to take time out once in a while!
On the blog, I’ve been sharing why you need to take time out to replenish your resources, calm anxiety, nurture creativity and benefit those around you as well as offering some hints and tips to help you do so. I’m also discussing why it’s important to be kind to yourself.
In My Kitchen – The August Edition
I haven’t been cooking much whilst we have been away, but I’m looking forward to getting back in the kitchen on our return home. I’ll be making lots of easy summer recipes, including this delicious Warm Wild Rice Salad with Sausages and Apples. This weeknight supper dish is perfect for entertaining, and it’s kid-friendly too!
I’m looking forward to making cooling and refreshing summer desserts like this Easy No Bake Orange Cheesecake. There’s a lime version as well.
I’ll also be making lots of other cooling desserts like Orange No Churn Ice Cream, Raspberry and Rose Jelly and Cream and Gooseberry Fool.
Thank you all so much for visiting and sharing your blog posts!

Hi April! I used to live right outside the gates of Pebble Beach California when my husband and I were first married. We loved 17 Mile Drive! That was about 42 years ago now, but I am sure it is still beautiful! Thank you for hosting, this is my favorite party!
