Welcome to a celebration of British Summer – as well as all the things that make summer anywhere great – at The Hearth and Soul Link Party! I’m so glad you are here!
At The Hearth and Soul Link Party, you can share blog posts old and new, about anything that feeds the soul. This includes – but is not limited to – family, home, recipes, decorating, crafts, DIY, travel, organisation, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.
The weather may be a bit temperamental, but our British summer is in full swing. Royal Ascot was held last week and now we are heading towards the Championships at Wimbledon and The Henley Royal Regatta. There are many traditional events held every summer here in the UK, making it a really busy and fun time.
Summer is a great time to visit London as well. The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace will soon be open to visitors and there are lots more Great Things to Do in London.
I’ve just recently returned from a trip to Singapore, and we were at a vintage car rally at the beautiful Elizabethan Burghley House this weekend, so it has been a slower week on the blog.
What’s Been Happening on the Blog
This vintage recipe for Grandma’s Homemade Vintage Coleslaw is always a hit at our summer barbecues and parties. I also like to keep some handy in the fridge for easy lunches and salad suppers. This coleslaw (or cabbage salad as she called it) was one of my late Mom’s signature recipes and a real family favourite.
Thank you to everyone who visited and shared last week.

April, thank you for hosting my favorite link party! I’ll be back on Thursday with a yummy lemon treat. Your version (Hellmann’s instead of Miracle Whip) of your mom’s coleslaw is just the way I like it. Some people put waaaaayyy too much sugar in it AND use Miracle Whip, which I just hate. I’d love to have your gooseberry fool. The berries don’t show up anywhere near me very often, and when they do they cost the earth!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Jean! I’ll look forward to your lemon treat – I love treats with lemon!
That pic of yall at the car rally is so great! laurensparks.net
Thank you, Lauren!

Thank you so much, Emily, and thank you for pinning the cole slaw recipe too!
Thanks for hosting! This week I am bringing a BBQ Chicken and Smoked Gouda mac and cheese with Bacon, just for the adults! A Coca Cola BBQ Sauce for using on the grill and a Grilled Pork and Sweet Potato Kabobs that will delight everyone. Enjoy!
Everything sounds amazing, Marilyn! I look forward to your recipes!
Thanks so much for hosting! I’m linking up with my very first bucket list – 2019 SUMMER BUCKET LIST! Do you do such lists?
My pleasure, Dee! I don’t necessarily do a bucket list, but I do make a similar list every year of things I want to do. I was inspired by Gretchen Rubin to choose the same number of things as the last number of the year. So I did 18 for 2018, and this year I’m doing 19 for 2019 etc! I look forward to reading your list 🙂
I love the picture of you and your husband!
Thank you for hosting. I’m so pleased to see my stenciled flower bucket.
