What do you think of my blog redesign? I’ve had some wonderful, positive comments and feedback. I’m so grateful to you all for all your support over the last 16 years! (Yes, I started bloggging in 2002!!) I’m also very grateful to Laura Nicholson, who turned my vision for the AprilJHarris.com into a beautiful reality, as well as to Tara Taylor Photography and Emma Cadec Makeup.
How are things in your corner of the world? I’ve been battling off a cold, but I’m definitely on the mend now, and am very grateful it wasn’t worse!
This week at the Hearth and Soul Link Party where this week’s features are celebrating love. One of the posts on the blog that celebrates love is How to Keep the Romance Alive in Your Relationship.
My husband and I are married 27 years this year, and it’s our 29th year of living together, so I’ve updated the post for 2018 with some new ideas and insights.
I also shared an easy recipe perfect for Chinese New Year – or for make your own take out anytime.
My Honey Garlic and Ginger Chicken is so easy to make in the slow cooker – and it’s incredibly versatile too!
and don’t miss one of my favourite healthy breakfasts of the moment!
You won’t believe how good this creamy, sweet, and crunchy Pear Walnut and Ginger Oatmeal tastes! Bonus – it’s got no refined sugars AND it’s gluten free if you use gluten free oats.

LOVE the site redesign!!
Thank you so much, Emily!! 🙂
April, thank you for hosting. I’ll be back to visit links and read your Keeping the Romance Alive on my next break. Reminded me I responded on Twitter to a “Would you be happy with this bathroom?” tweet this morning that “No, I’m not a fan of double sinks. Mr Delightful and I haven’t kept the romance alive all these years by watching each other floss and brush!”
It’s a pleasure, Jean 🙂 Your story about Twitter and the double sink really made me smile – my husband liked it too!
Thank you for featuring our Unplugged Family Weekend! And congratulations on your new blog design – I love it!! It suits you so perfectly. I can’t believe you’ve been doing this for 16 years. That’s amazing. Keep up the inspirational work!
It’s a pleasure, Nancy, and thank you so much for the lovely compliments!
Lovely new site April!
Thank you, Carol!
Hi April, I love your re design of your blog!!! You and your husband looks so sweet together and it looks like you really enjoy each other a lot. Thanks for hosting this fun party. Enjoy the week.
Julie
Thank you so much for the lovely compliments, Julie, and for visiting and sharing too!
Such a lovely site redesign, April. Calming and appealing, a combination that I always appreciate. It’s hard to believe that you’ve been blogging that long. You are a blogging pioneer! My 9th anniversary passed on Dec. 30 but I still haven’t mentioned it on gfe. Guess I should get around to that. 😉
So many things of interest here this week! I can’t wait to check a bunch of them out. I already read your romance post. Sweet and true. Going on 36 years of marriage for us and 41 years of being together. It doesn’t seem possible. As the saying goes, “the days are long but the years are short.” That’s often meant to reassure parents but I think it holds true for all relationships because of the daily challenges of life as you’ve shared.
I linked up my Dark Chocolate Walnut Bliss Bars and Molten Chocolate Cake, both of which are ideal for Valentine’s Day.
Have a great week!
Shirley
Thank you so much, Shirley, calm and appealing is really what I was going for! 🙂 What you said about the years being short is so true! Your recipes sound amazing as always – definitely perfect for a Valentine’s Day treat!

Your new design is lovely. I have purchased a new theme and started on it, but have been hesitant and worried that it will cause too many problems. I admire your bravery! Thanks for hosting. Have a blessed week.
