Earlier this week, I discovered some great fashion and beauty ideas at an evening of fashion and beauty for local bloggers at The Oracle, Reading.
After a glass of bubbles and some nibbles at Brown’s Bar and Brasserie, we moved on to Topshop for an overview of fashion trends for Christmas and the holidays.
Topshop are focusing on two key colour-ways for the holidays. The first trend is jewel tones like emerald, ruby and gold, the other is cooler metallics, gorgeous icy blues and silvers.
Bomber jackets have made a big return this season and we’ll see them paired with dresses and celebration wear as well as jeans and boots. There’s lots of focus on collars and faux fur too.
Heels are high or chunky and sparkles and fringes are popular embellishments for holiday footwear. Try a cute pair of boots with a great heel instead of shoes with dresses or skirts.
Don’t forget accessories. The fur scarf/collar above is one of Topshop’s best sellers this season. It’s the perfect way to add a touch of style to any outfit and a frugal way to update an older winter coat.
We then moved on to Kiko, home to some beautiful, well priced makeup, face and body treatments. Kiko are offering some lovely limited edition fragrance and beauty gift sets that would be perfect for any woman on your gift list. Although Kiko cater to all ages, I think their products would be especially popular with younger women.
We talked about the latest trends in makeup – from the wonderful smokey eye to the magic anyone can work with a good highlighting and contouring palette. We had a chance to try out these trends with Kiko’s skilled makeup artists, who are more than happy to help you in store. I learned some great tailor-made hints and tips for smokey eyes and in the photo on the bottom left above you can see Lorna of Lorna, literally trying out the latest trends in contouring and highlighting.
Whatever your style, you will definitely find great fashion and beauty ideas at The Oracle, Reading this holiday season!
Disclosure: I was a guest of The Oracle and I was compensated for my time. This has not affected any of the opinions I have shared in this post.

I haven’t been into a Top Shop in years but I do like the items you show here. And this reminds me to dig out my furry scarf: it’s finally cold enough to wear it!
I hadn’t been to Top Shop for ages either, Pauline, but I was really impressed with so much of their holiday collection 🙂 I’m thinking of adding the furry scarf to my wardrobe – I have lots of silk, cashmere and wool scarves, but nothing furry 🙂
