Easy Pear Walnut and Ginger Oatmeal

  • 1 cup rolled oats (sometimes called porridge oats)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 pears, peeled, cored and cut in chunks or 4 canned pear halves
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • about 10 walnut halves, chopped
  1. Mix the oats and milk together in a small saucepan with a wooden spoon.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring regularly.
  3. Stir in the pear, maple syrup and ginger.
  4. Turn the heat back a bit and set a timer for 5 minutes.
  5. Cook, stirring almost constantly, until the timer goes off.
  6. Divide the oatmeal between two bowls, top with the chopped walnuts and serve.
  7. Serve with extra maple syrup, if you like. And be careful as the pears may be quite hot.
