The Hearth and Soul Link Party where we welcome posts about anything to feed the soul

Life is exciting, but it can get complicated trying to fit everything in! I’m thinking more and more about embracing simplicity these days. The features at this week’s Hearth and Soul Link Party reflect that. Welcome! At Hearth and Soul, blog posts old and new, about anything that feeds the soul, are welcome. This includes – but is not limited to – family, home, recipes, decorating, crafts, DIY, travel, organisation, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.

A Very British Summer

Can you believe we are half way through 2019 already? I’m excited that summer is on its way, and I’m looking forward to a busy and fun season in my life. The summer is a really interesting time in the UK, with Royal Ascot, The Henley Regatta, Wimbledon and more. It’s also a great time for embracing simplicity. I love enjoying simple salads for supper and easy, light and fruity desserts.

Last week I shared two recipes perfect for celebrating a very British summer, wherever you live!

Coronation Chicken is a light and delicious summer salad, a vintage recipe gently spiced with curry powder and sweetened with fresh and dried fruit.

Coronation Chicken is a vintage salad recipe with a Royal history, and a great story behind it. You can adjust the spicing to suit your family, and it is perfect for summer entertaining.

Gooseberry Fool is a classic British summer dessert, perfect for entertaining. This easy, make ahead recipe has a sweet tart flavour and creamy texture that makes it a real treat!

Round off your meal with a lighter version of a classic British summer dessert, Gooseberry Fool. This easy to make, creamy, sweet-tart dessert is a delicious treat, that you can make several hours ahead and keep in the fridge.

Speaking of British summer, Buckingham Palace has its summer opening coming up soon.

Learn more about how to visit Buckingham Palace for an inside look at a beautiful and historic working Royal Palace, perhaps the most iconic in England.

Don’t miss the lowdown on all the information you need to make the most of a visit to Buckingham Palace in 2019.

April, I’m all for simplicity, especially for summer meals. Love my fresh salads – and easily can incorporate them into or as the main meal.

    Have a great week!

My daughter just returned from a week-long work assignment in London and enjoyed the free time she had there sightseeing a bit. She definitely wants to go back when on vacation to see more. Your gooseberry fool looks very refreshing==perfect for summer days.

Instagram post 2190975069077257663_179821897 🎄 Have you put up your Christmas decorations yet? 🎄I love hearing about people’s traditions around decorating. So many wait until after a birthday or have a special date to start. I’d love to know what happens at your house!
🎄
My Christmas tree has been up since November 1, but only because I had a photo shoot ini early November. It was too much work to take it down again, and frankly it has brightened the dark mornings. 🎄
The rest of the house took shape last week before our first Christmas party. I’m loving how this swag of greenery, pinecones, feathers and flowers made by my favourite florist @greenparlour looks on my Grandmother’s and my Mom’s sideboard in the kitchen. I think that both these lovely late ladies would approve! .
