It’s National Vegetarian Week here in the UK, so this week at Hearth and Soul the Focus is on Plants – plant to eat, decorate and garden with. Welcome to the party!
At Hearth and Soul, blog posts old and new, about anything that feeds the soul, are welcome. This includes – but is not limited to – family, home, recipes, decorating, crafts, DIY, travel, organisation, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.
I’m busily working on the Vintage Recipes Mini E-Book which will be free to subscribers very soon. I’m also preparing for a mini redesign in early summer, just to freshen things up at bit here on the blog.
We are heading into a busy travel season as well and I’ll be excited to share my adventures with you. We are starting with a weekend break to Edinburgh. It’s my first visit to Scotland and I’m very excited. If you’ve been to Edinburgh and have any tips or can’t miss places to visit, please let me know in the comments!
This Week on The Blog
In celebration of National Vegetarian Week, I’m sharing a 3 day vegetarian meal plan.
Although I’m far from vegetarian, my family and I consider ourselves Occasional Vegetarians, and these dishes are some of our favourites. I hope my 3 Day Meal Plan for National Vegetarian Week and Beyond will inspire you to experiment with vegetarian cookery as well. Enjoying meat free meals on a frequent basis benefits our health, our budget and our planet!
Thank you so much to everyone for visiting and sharing last week! I share as many posts as I can on Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook. There’s also a devoted Hearth and Soul Link Party Facebook page where I share posts as well.
Focus on Plants Features

Hi April, thank you so much for featuring my daughter’s vegan ricotta cheese recipe! It was amazing to me as well! This week she posted the lasagna recipe to go with it. On the opposite end of the spectrum I added a Smoked Salmon Omelette and the perfect Root Beer Float, 2 of my favorites! I hope you have a wonderful week!

Hi Helen, I’m sorry I didn’t credit your daughter properly in the feature! I loved the idea of a delicious vegan cheese and I’m excited to see how it works in her lasagna. I’m looking forward to your recipes too. I haven’t had a Root Beer Float in far too long! I hope you have a wonderful week as well.
