Welcome back to the Hearth and Soul Link Party! It is a great time for fresh ideas for fall, and you will find plenty of them here!
The Hearth and Soul Link Party welcomes family friendly blog posts about anything to feed the soul. Things that feed the soul may include (but are not limited to) recipes, decorating, crafts, family, home, DIY, organization, travel, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.
Thank you so much for sharing your content over the last two weeks while I was away. We had a couple of nice little breaks and I’m feeling really refreshed. Wherever you are in the world, I hope that you are safe and well and have not been affected by storms, flooding, fires, the pandemic and all the other things that are going on right now.
My husband and I really enjoyed our staycation at a couple of local-ish hotels. We loved The Vineyard, just up the road in Newbury. This beautiful hotel offered wonderful wine, food and service – and was decorated with some fabulous original Impressionist artwork. We hope to return very soon! We also dined at The Waterside, Alain Roux’s Michelin Starred restaurant in Bray. It was a very special experience indeed.
I’m definitely looking forward to travelling abroad once again.
Whether you are looking forward to travelling soon or armchair travel is just fine for now, you won’t want to miss these 5 places I can’t wait to visit again.
I’m really enjoying the fresh start autumn offers – and I’m definitely looking for lots of fresh ideas for fall. How do you feel about the autumn? And where do you stand on the autumn / fall terminology conundrum? Incidentally, did you know that both words – autumn and fall – actually originated in Britain?

I love fresh, hot muffins for breakfast on crisp fall mornings and this recipe is such a treat!
One cool British summer day some years ago, after lunch at the Wordsworth Hotel, my family and I took a walk through the beautiful village of Grasmere. We were drawn to a small 17th century cottage by the heady scent of gingerbread. It was utterly irresistible. The resulting visit to a historic bakery inspired me to create these Pumpkin Gingerbread Muffins once we got home.
I also shared a delightfully different cake to serve when people pop round for a cup of tea or coffee (how wonderful is it that we can do this again?!).
This Banana Date Cake with Walnut and Honey Glaze is a deliciously moist old fashioned cake has a buttery sweet, nutty glaze that is hard to resist.
Thank you all for sharing your wonderful content! I really appreciate your support of Hearth and Soul.
