Hello and welcome to The Hearth and Soul Link Party. I’m a real “September is the New January” kind of girl so this week’s features are all about fresh starts, self improvement and making your home and life beautiful for the new season.
At The Hearth and Soul Link Party, posts about anything that feeds your soul are welcome – from family, home, decorating, crafts and DIY to travel, organisation, book reviews, the arts and self improvement. And of course, food from the hearth to feed your soul is a real favourite here too!
As well as fresh starts, this time of year is all about Back to School. After last week’s Vegetarian Dinner Ideas for Back to School, I’ve been sharing recipes to help make weekday evenings easier again this week.
My Easy Back to School Dinner Ideas help make family meals with a full schedule much more manageable – and more delicious too!
I also shared a vegetarian main dish that makes a terrific side dish as well.
My Mushroom Orzotto is a nutritious alternative to vegetarian risotto – but I also love to serve it as a tasty, healthy side with all kinds of other dishes, especially my Baked Cod with a Sautéed Veggie Topping.

Good Afternoon April, I love your Mushroom Orzotto recipe. I love pearl barley and use it quite often during the winter time. As you mentioned, a nice alternative to rice.
When September arrives, I can feel a difference in the morning air, not so much a chill, but definitely a difference. The weather here in the north is certainly changing.
Best Wishes
Daphne
