Happy June friends! Welcome to The Hearth and Soul Link Party. This week’s features include Great Things To Do In June to inspire you to make the most of this wonderful month.
Blog posts about anything that feeds the soul are welcome at The Hearth and Soul Link Party. This includes – but is not limited to – family, home, recipes, decorating, crafts, DIY, travel, organisation, book reviews, the arts and self improvement. Basically I’d love to for you to share blog posts about anything that feeds the soul!
This week marked the 65th anniversary of HM Queen Elizabeth’s coronation. Over 8.000 guests attended the coronation, and several hundred were invited to a luncheon afterwards. The food had to be prepared in advance, and both food and refrigeration were scarce in post-war Britain, so the menu was a challenge.
You can find out more about the menu, and taste my recipe for the main course, Coronation Chicken in my latest post.
I’ll be publishing Hearth and Soul a little early today. My husband and I are heading to Cambridge to visit our son and his girlfriend, because Tuesday is my birthday. I’m excited to be able to spend it with my family in such a lovely location! I’ll be sharing highlights from historic Cambridge on my social media channels and I’m already working on some blog posts about this lovely British city.
My friend Pauline Wiles has written three really lovely books about Saffron Sweeting, a fictional village set outside Cambridge. Cambridge features in the books as well and I’ll be visiting some of the locations from them next week. If you are an anglophile and fancy a great read, do check out Saving Saffron Sweeting, Secrets in the Sky and Sweet Pursuits.

I’ll skip the raisins in the Coronation Chicken but otherwise, it looks delicious! I see lots of other goodness this week, too, plus some great ideas for summer. Now that our rain has stopped (at least temporarily), I’m ready to enjoy some summer fun!
This week I’ve linked up my first recipe made with banana flour (spoiler alert: I’m in love!) and a great roundup from my Bountiful Bread Basket Series that features recipes for bagels, croissants, English muffins, breadsticks, and soft pretzels. Yes, they can all be made gluten free, and they’re wonderful!
Happy Birthday! Hope you have a lovely visit and celebration with family! Hugs,
Shirley

Hi April! I love this party! This week I have shared our family’s all time favorite fresh salsa recipe. I keep it kind of mild, but to heat it up all you need is some hotter chilies. Enjoy!
Thank you so much, Helen! Your salsa looks delicious, and I like the idea of being able to make it as mild or hot as you like 🙂
