Hello and welcome to the Hearth and Soul Link Party! How are you doing? I hope you and yours are all safe and healthy. On another note, are you feeling happy at home?
There are many things I miss, most of all being able to visit with our son and his partner. Having said that, there are things about staying safe at home that I am enjoying. I can confidently say I’m feeling happy at home. However, I am seriously looking forward to being able to visit the ones we love. And to getting my hair done – but that’s way down on the list compared to the former!
Whether your blog posts are old or new, as long as they are about things that feed the soul, they are welcome here at The Hearth and Soul Link Party. Things that feed the soul may include (but are not limited to) recipes, decorating, crafts, family, home, DIY, organization, travel, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.
What’s Been Happening
I’ve been doing some online networking this week, as well as working hard on the blog.
We’ve had some beautiful weather, and I’ve been enjoying being able to work outside in our garden. That has certainly helped me be happy at home.
Being at home so much has given me lots of opportunity to develop new recipes, and to look again at old favourites.
While I love to make this delicious Crab and Shrimp Salad with fresh crab and shrimp, it’s also delicious with canned crab and frozen little shrimps as well. In fact, I discovered last week that it also makes a delicious sandwich filling when you make it with little shrimp. We used rye bread, and topped the ‘salad’ with crisp lettuce. Lunch was a real treat that day!
Thank you all for your support of Hearth and Soul and for sharing your wonderful content. I appreciate you all!
Happy at Home Features
Happy at home features include (from top left, clockwise):-
Be happy at home doing some armchair travelling with Sandra at Dinner at Eight and her post about Spring in The Atlanta Botanical Garden
Miz Helen of Miz Helen’s Country Cottage shared a family recipe for a beautiful Strawberry Skillet Cake, perfect comfort food as strawberries come into season
Being creative is a great way to be happy at home. Kristin of White Arrows Home has an easy project with these Painted TV Trays Made New Again . (Funnily enough, these are the exact TV trays we have at home, and they are a little down at heel, so I may just give this a try!)
If you have got flour and yeast, you must try this Easy No Need Pan Bread from Jean of Delightful Repast
Okay, on with the party!

It’s a real pleasure, Miz Helen! I’m hoping to try your Mom’s lovely cake soon. Our local farm shop is getting some local strawberries in. I am so pleased you shared the recipe. Take care and have a safe and healthy week.

Thank you for featuring my trip to the Botanical Garden. What a lovely surprise! Am I happy at home? Mostly, but not being able to go visit my daughter is disheartening. Take care

It’s a pleasure, Sandra. And I totally know what you mean. I miss being able to visit our son and his partner so much! Take care and stay well.

I am glad you are doing well at home. Like you, I am happy at home, but I miss being able to hug my mother. She lives just 10 minutes from her, and we have been making a point to see her on a weekly basis, since she lives alone. And I call daily. She and I laugh when the question about how our days are going comes up, but we manage to find something discuss.

What a lovely view you have–I’m assuming from a back porch or deck? That strawberry skillet cake looks so good.
April Harris says
I’m sitting on a patio in our garden, Barbara, just outside our living room 🙂 We have a table and some seating out there. We are lucky to have a nice size garden that wraps around our house with lots of different little areas to sit in 🙂 I definitely want to make the skillet cake too! Take care and stay well.

Your crab and shrimp salad sound like one I would enjoy very much, April, and I can imagine it would taste so good as a sandwich filling.
I also enjoy being at home but I do miss hugging my grandchildren. That separation is the hardest part of this.
April Harris says
I agree, Pat, the separation is really difficult. Thinking of you. Take care.
Rachelle Rubio says
I’ve been able to get outside into the garden, but I really want my haircut!
April Harris says
I can empathise with that, Rachelle, although it’s just my bangs I need cut. I do desperately need a colour though!

Judee says
April,
What a joy to be able to work outdoors! I find I am revisiting recipes as well and looking for simple easy meals because I don’t want to spend my entire day in the kitchen. I’m excited to browse through this week’s shares. I sure to find some alluring recipes. Have a great week.
April Harris says
It really is, Judee! I agree, I am loving simple meals on busy days. It’s easy to end up in the kitchen for most of the day when both of you are home. Some days I enjoy that, but others I definitely crave something simpler. I hope your week is lovely too.
Patrick Weseman says
