It has been a lovely weekend here in the UK. Good Friday and Easter Monday are statutory holidays here, so it makes for a lovely long weekend. I’m trying to prioritise healthy living ideas in my own life, so we had some lovely long walks, spent time with family and also took some time out to pamper ourselves. It was very restorative!
Healthy living ideas can be delicious too. Love raisin toast? Last week I shared a delicious bread you can make in your bread machine.
I call it Last Minute Easter Bread because it makes a great flavour substitute if you don’t have time to make homemade Hot Cross Buns. However, I make this bread all year round as it makes the most amazing raisin toast! My friend, Pauline Wiles, author of the Saffron Sweeting Trilogy, tried the recipe over the weekend and used orange juice instead of apple juice with great results. I’m definitely going to give this a try next time just to switch things up a bit!
Healthy living ideas can also include taking time out or even going on holiday. Planning a trip to London or fancy an armchair visit?
Join me (virtually) at one of London’s most iconic hotels in my latest travel post – Putting on The Ritz at The Ritz Hotel.

April, I’ll be back on Thursday to check out more links AND to add a link to my fab tea and teapot giveaway post! I need a slice of your lovely bread, toasted, with a spoonful of that great looking strawberry chia jam from Sidewalk Shoes!
Thank you so much for visiting, Jean, and I’ll look forward to seeing your new post on Thursday! And thank you for the compliment on my bread – it would be lovely with Pam’s jam 🙂
We have storms on the way and will most likely loose power, so I will be back later to visit everyone. Have a great week and thanks so much for the party!
Miz Helen
Oh my goodness, do stay safe, Miz Helen. I hope the storms are not too bad. Thank you for visiting and sharing.
I finally remembered to link up this week! Somehow Mondays have flown by lately and I’ve missed linking up so I consider this a major victory. 😉 Your bread looks great and I really appreciate your latest trip report, April.

Hi April…it looks like you had a lovely Easter with your family! Oh my, this week’s Hearth and Soul Hop is filled with so many goodies (especially your bread) and I can’t wait to dig into the fantastic healthy recipes! This week, I have a super-healthy quickie dinner to share…Salmon en Parchment. Have a wonderful rest of the week and as always, thank you so much or all you do!
It really was wonderful, Linda. I enjoyed your photos of Passover with your family too 🙂 Thank you so much for the compliment on my bread, and for visiting and sharing too. I love salmon and am looking forward to your recipe. Thank you so much for all your support, and especially your support of Hearth and Soul.
I would love a slice of your bread with my mug of tea as I sit down to read your post about the Ritz!
Thank you so much, Wendy! I hope you enjoy the post 🙂
I also would like to taste a slice of your bread, but I can’t. So that, I’m going to copy your recipe and offer my Steamed bread with spelt flour and kalonji seeds. Hope you like it. Have a nice day.
Thank you so much, Marisa! I love spelt so I’m excited to read your bread recipe. I’m also interested to learn about kalonji seeds as they are a new to me ingredient. Hope your day is lovely too!
