Welcome! The Hearth and Soul Hop is the blog hop for family and comfort food recipes, healthy, sustainable living posts, gardening, family, kids, crafts and DIY. Encouraging and inspiring posts are welcome too.
I’m sorry I’m a bit late posting the hop. We have just arrived in Ireland this evening. I’ll be here exploring for the next few days and sharing some of my adventures with you!
I have an announcement – October marks the Twelfth Anniversary of the launch of The 21st Century Housewife! There are lots of fun things coming up on AprilJHarris.com to help celebrate. including guest posts, a giveaway and more! I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown by and I’m so grateful to all of you, my readers! Please watch this space and be a part of the celebrations!
This week I’m honoured to feature a wonderful post from Laureen at Fox in the Kitchen.
In Jenny’s Macaroons, Laureen shares her sorrow at the loss of her mother, Jenny. Laureen also celebrates Jenny’s life by sharing the beautiful crafts she created and by making one of the recipes she remembers Jenny making. Although we now celebrate all kinds of wonderful posts at Hearth and Soul, Laureen’s post reminded me of the heart of this hop, the celebration of home, family, hearth and home. Thank you, Laureen, for sharing so openly and honestly and for reminding us all that if we look hard enough, we can find joy even in the midst of deep sorrow.
I’m also featuring two helpful fall craft posts:-
25 DIY Hallowe’en Costume Projects from Jacqui of Woman of Many Roles and
12 Fall Crafts for Inside and Outside the Home from Barb of Life in Balance.

April,
Thank you for featuring my post. It is hard to write when one’s heart is wide open and emotions are raw but as you say, there is joy even in the midst of sorrow. And the coconut macaroon cookies are really good! I made a batch for my family last weekend and they disappeared in a flash. I imagine Jenny’s Macaroons will be making an appearance at all of our family gatherings from now on 🙂

PS enjoy Ireland. It’s high on my list of places to visit.
It’s lovely to think of you making Jenny’s Macaroons for your family as the years go by, Laureen. What a great way to honour your mom’s memory as well as her love of cooking! And thank you so much for you good wishes, we are having a lovely time 🙂
Hello cute lady! It is always a pleasure to stop by and party with you. I hope you get a chance to stop by our party. That would be totally amazing! http://loulougirls.blogspot.com

Hi, April! I know you are having a fantastic time in Ireland!
Thank you for the party and congratulations on 12 years. Just think about all the recipes you have made and written about in the past twelve years…wow!
Hi Michelle and thank you 🙂 I have made so many recipes over the years. In fact I’m revisiting some of the older ones again as they disappeared in my first blog redesign a couple of years ago. So there will be some oldies but goodies (with some up to date tweaks) coming up soon 🙂
G’day Thanks for hosting this great party! Pinned!
Sharing the love today for you!
Cheers! Joanne
G’day, Joanne! It’s lovely to ‘see’ you 🙂 And thank you for sharing!
