Hello and welcome to the March 2024 Edition of The Hearth and Soul Link Party! March is one of my favourite months, not least of all because my husband’s birthday and our wedding anniversary are this month. We were married on my husband’s birthday 33 years ago in a beautiful 12th century church in Kent.
I also love seeing the weather become nicer his time of year – although we have had rather a lot of rain if I’m honest – and I really love that it is still light at 5pm most evenings. How are things in your corner of the world? Is March one of your favourite months as well?
The Hearth and Soul Link Party welcomes family-friendly blog posts about anything that feeds the soul. Things that feed the soul may include (but are not limited to) recipes, decorating, crafts, family, home, DIY, organization, travel, book reviews, the arts, and self improvement.
The Latest
The renovations are well and truly finished – we had all the final paperwork through last week – so I am feeling much more settled now. I shared the before and after from our entry hallway on Instagram recently if you fancy having a look.
I’m excited to say we have a lot more travel planned this year – almost back to our pre-2020 normal – so I will have a lot more travel ideas and stories to share with you.
In fact, we have trip coming up very soon to a place neither my husband nor I have visited before – Jersey! I’m excited to learn more about this beautiful island, a British Crown Dependency, nestled in the English Channel about 85 miles (136 km) off the coast of southern England. In preparation, I am reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society (affiliate link), a book that has been on my reading list for ages.

My Beef and Vegetable Stir Fry in a Sweet and Spicy Sauce is a real favourite at our house and beyond. Looking for a meat-free option? Why not try my Vegetable and Cashew Stir Fry instead?
Fancy a treat?
My Coffee and Chocolate Chip Loaf Cake is perfect any time of day and there is a gluten-free option too.
And for our Easter celebrations, I am looking forward to making an Easter Afternoon Tea.

Comments & Reviews
I loved the Guernsey book! The movie is good, too. How great to have the renovations all done. Sounds like you have a lovely month planned.
That’s great to hear, Barbara! I will see if I can find the movie on Netflix too as I think my husband might enjoy it as well. Hope you have a lovely month too!
It always makes life special when you have such momentous occasions to celebrate with family and friends! Your Simnel cake is so eye catching (I love seeing all the variations my UK friends are sharing!) and that loaf cake is definitely calling my name, again. This time I may succumb. 😉
I really enjoyed the posts that featured so many stunning photos, Italy and lotus flowers at Biltmore. The book list was interesting as well. I don’t think any of us can live long enough to read all the books we want to read!
This week I’ve linked up a flourless recipe (always my favorite!), Intense Chocolate Almond Bites, and a collection of gluten-free Hot Cross Buns, so many amazing recipes.
I’m ready for true spring. We’re in false spring here. 😉 The daffodils, snowdrops, hellebores, and a few more flowers of the season are as beautiful as ever though!
Thanks for hosting and have a good week, April!
Shirley
I hope you give the loaf cake a try, Shirley. I was really pleased with the gluten-free version. I must try a dairy-free version too as my son’s partner has developed a dairy intolerance and I’m trying to make as many recipes as possible dairy-free.
What a perfect time to share hot cross buns. I love all the delicious treats at Easter. The Intense Chocolate Almond Bites sound wonderful too!
The weather is very capricious here, but we are definitely seeing lots of spring flowers and blossom. It’s quite chilly at night though. I’m very relieved they are saying we will be rain free for a few days at least as it has rained every day or night for weeks. That said, we are lucky to be on high ground so I cannot complain. There is a lot of flooding.
Hope you have a wonderful week too, Shirley! x
Thanks April for hosting the March Edition of the Hearth and Soul Link Party. Can’t believe it, but it’s March. My shares this week are #37 through 42.
It really is hard to believe it is March already, Nancy! Thank you so much for visiting and sharing, and for being a part of Hearth and Soul. Wishing you a lovely month!
Congratulations on your wedding anniversary & happy birthday all on one day, how lovely!
I loved that book, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society, I have seen the movie twice & loved it each time.
You’re Easter afternoon tea looks very inviting.
Hope you have a great month April.
Blessings, Jennifer
Thank you so much for the good wishes, Jennifer.
I’m encouraged to hear your recommendation of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society. I appreciate I am going to Jersey but the two islands are so close to one another and both were occupied during WW2 I thought it was a good idea to read it!
Thank you for the compliment on my Easter afternoon tea.
I hope you have a great month too, Jennifer!
Blessings to you!
That loaf cake looks super amazing. Thanks for sharing it. Thanks for hosting this great party.
Thank you, Patrick – and thank you for being a part of Hearth and Soul too!

April, happy birthday to your husband and happy anniversary! My husband and I are also married for 33 years this year. It’s nice to have those celebrations this month. I also like celebrating St. Patrick’s day. Your beef stir fry looks good and I love all of the goodies you made for an Easter afternoon tea. Thanks for hosting and enjoy the month of March.
