Welcome to the October edition of the Hearth and Soul Link Party! This is the first monthly edition of the party, which will now open on the first Sunday of every month and remain open until (UPDATED) the 20th of each month or until 300 entries are reached. Please continue to visit and share while the linky is open. I will continue to do the same, visiting and sharing your content across my social media platforms.
UPDATED : Thank you all so much for visiting and sharing so generously! I apologise for shortening the duration of the party, but there have been so many links that it is slowing down the loading speed of my site. If you have more content you would still like to share with this month’s party, please do pop over to the new Hearth and Soul Facebook Group and share it there.
Next month’s party will open on Sunday 7th November and remain open until November 20th, or until 300 entries are reached.
The Hearth and Soul Link Party welcomes family friendly blog posts about anything to feed the soul. Things that feed the soul may include (but are not limited to) recipes, decorating, crafts, family, home, DIY, organization, travel, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.
Have You Joined the New Hearth and Soul Facebook Group?
Have you joined the New Hearth and Soul Link Party Community on Facebook? Whether you visit the Hearth and Soul Link Party to share, be inspired, or both, I hope I will all join the group. Simply click the link above to go to request to join. I look forward to welcoming you!
Being part of a Facebook group will help us all to expand our reach and connect with each other in different ways. You can also share your own posts in the group as well as at the party – and I will share your posts as well.
What’s Been Happening – The October Edition
Last week I was interviewed by the lovely Leigh Olsen as part of the As We Eat Podcast. I will let you know when my spot will air, but in the meantime, please do give As We Eat a listen. It is a fascinating podcast for anyone who loves food and food history.
I have been craving warming breakfasts after our early morning walks.
My Pear Walnut and Ginger Oatmeal Porridge makes a delicious start to the day, and it takes under ten minutes to make.
Dinners are taking a distinctly autumnal turn at our house.
Maple Glazed Chicken with Roasted Root Vegetables makes a deliciously wholesome family meal. Plus, it’s naturally gluten free.
Christmas Cake Workshop
Did you know the best Christmas Cakes need time to age? Join me on Zoom on 13th November as I share my favourite homemade Christmas cake recipe – based on my family’s traditional British recipe – as well as my hints and tips for how to make your homemade Christmas cake one of the best you have ever tasted. There’s a gluten-free option too! The class will be recorded so that you can refer back to it as often as you like.

Shirley @ gluten free easily says
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving, April! I forgot to come back and comment last week so I’ll play catchup this week. 😉 I hope your upcoming workshop goes well! We made refrigerator pickles for the first time during quarantine! Last week and this week, I’ve been linking up recipes that work especially well for Fall (i.e., wassail, pumpkin pie smoothie, and Sloppy Joes) but today I also linked up gluten-free Angel Food Cake recipes because it’s National Angel Food Cake Day. I’ve found gluten-free Angel Food Cake recipes to be amazing! There are even grain-free and keto options included plus, mini cakes and cupcakes for quicker versions that use fewer egg whites. Gotta love that!
Have a great week!
Shirley
April Harris says
Thank you so much, Shirley!
Your recipes are all sounding so delicious! I featured your Gluten Free Chocolate Cake in our new Hearth and Soul Facebook Community today. I’m excited for those Angel Food Cake recipes. I adore Angel Food Cake. It’s not really a thing over here in the UK, so it is great to have recipes to make it from scratch!
Hope you have a great week too!

I just today discovered your blog and this link-up. Looks like a lovely place to spend some time! I love that Anne Shirley quote. I have it framed and displayed as part of my fall decor (well during the month of October). Your porridge recipe sounds yummy. I will be giving it a try over the weekend.
