Hi there! Welcome to the Hearth and Soul Link Party. Time seems to be strangely fluid this year so it is a great time to set your own pace.
The Hearth and Soul Link Party welcomes family friendly blog posts about anything to feed the soul. Things that feed the soul may include (but are not limited to) recipes, decorating, crafts, family, home, DIY, organization, travel, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.

For some of us, late summer is a time to slow down and regroup and for others, it is unsettlingly busy. With September on the horizon, this is a busy season work-wise for my husband and I. However, we are also endeavouring to carve out some time for rest and recreation.
This is more challenging than it might seem. I am in the process of some exciting new developments for my business and the blog, and I find myself wanting to work on them constantly. However, if we don’t take time out, we burn out.
One of my friends reminded me how important it is to set your own pace last week, and although I struggled to accept it at the time, I’m glad she cared enough to share her advice. I’m comforted by the wonderful Sarah Ban Breathnach. “The bottom line is not how fast you make your dream come true, but how steadily you pursue it, ” she writes in Simple Abundance A Daybook of Comfort and Joy.
An Extended Edition of Hearth and Soul
In the spirit of carving out some time to rest, my husband and I will be spending some time with family over the next week or so. This edition of The Hearth and Soul Link Party will remain open for two weeks, until Saturday August 14th. The next edition of the Hearth and Soul Link Party will go live on Sunday August 15th.
Save The Date
I’ll be announcing my next online cooking workshop very soon. In the meantime, please save the date – Saturday 4th September at 6pm British time, that’s 1pm Eastern and 10am Pacific. We’ll be making some of my family’s very favourite Vintage Cookie Recipes, perfect for back to school!
An Adventure
My family and I are heading to Cliveden House Hotel for part of our time out. From royalty to statesmen, socialites to stars of stage and screen, Cliveden has been home to and hosted some of the most famous people in the world since 1668. The current house was built in the mid-1800’s, after its predecessor was destroyed by fire. (Queen Victoria saw the smoke all the way from Windsor Castle 11 miles away, and sent fire engines to help, but to no avail.)
Cliveden is in a gorgeous setting, with lots of relaxing things to do, and the perfect place to set your own pace. I wrote about our previous visits to Cliveden here and here. If you would like to keep up with our adventures this time, please be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook.
Want to learn more about Cliveden? I’m reading The Mistresses of Cliveden by Natalie Livingstone at the moment. It covers the history of the house from 1668 until the present day and I’m finding it absolutely fascinating.

Hi April
Sorry for the late link up but I was traveling this weekend to a remote part of Colorado with a poor internet connection. It was beautiful there and much cooler, so worth the trip!
I loved “Simple Abundance.” It is still on my bookshelf as well as Sarah’s follow up book, “Something More” I should read both of them again as they may be even more helpful during this time in my life and living among covid concerns.
No worries at all, Pat, the linky is open for longer this week anyway as I’m having a little break 🙂
