Hello and welcome to the Hearth and Soul Link Party. This week I invite you to slow down and savour the everyday. Time seems to be flying by so quickly, I have to remind myself to do this. However, everything is better when I make an effort to notice and really enjoy the little things that make up our daily round.
The Hearth and Soul Link Party welcomes family friendly blog posts about anything to feed the soul. Things that feed the soul may include (but are not limited to) recipes, decorating, crafts, family, home, DIY, organization, travel, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.
What’s Been Happening?
How are things going where you are? We have been trying to take more time out to slow down and savour the things we have missed throughout the pandemic. We have been managing to get out and about a bit more. My husband and I even went to a ball on Saturday last week!
It was so much fun to get dressed up once again!
I’m getting ready for another photo shoot next week. We’ll be focusing on the kitchen and some new recipes this time. I’m excited to share them with you over the coming months.
Getting ready for back to school or just love cookies? Don’t forget to register for my Online Vintage Cookies Masterclass on 4th September at 6.00pm UK Time (that’s 1.00pm Eastern, 10.00am Pacific).
We’ve been having a very strange summer here, with lots of clouds and rain. Temperatures are between 14 and 22 degrees C (about 57 – 71 degrees F) most days, so a bit on the cool side! In fact it feels distinctly autumnal. In an attempt to embrace this, last week on Facebook I asked if it was too early for pumpkin recipes. Check out what people had to say and weigh in here!
If you are ready for pumpkin recipes, why not try this easy vintage classic?
This is one of my favourite Pumpkin Cake recipes, a real classic that is perfect any time of day.
In an attempt to make more time to slow down and savour the everyday, I am turning to easy, make ahead breakfasts more and more. I sleep better knowing what I’m going to eat in the morning! Recently my husband and I have been enjoying these light, healthy and flavourful muffins.
With a delicate orange flavour, juicy raisins and the goodness of oat bran, these Oat Bran Muffins with Carrot and Orange are sure to become a favourite at your house as well.

Hi April, Thanks for hosting this fun blog party. My shares this week are # 11 and 12. I don’t understand why the photo for turmeric doesn’t show on my end, but the post link to my site works. Is there anything you can do to fix the photo? Have a beautiful week.

Hi April! A Ball! How fun! 3 Winks has been off the radar for a bit as the Covid 19 Virus struck our household after all of our quarantining. I’m well again, but my hubby is still recovering in the hospital. It has been scary but we are getting closer to his homecoming and we are so grateful for that and for all of the support love and prayers we have received from our children, family and friends. I did manage to get one post published and shared it today. Stay healthy!
April Harris says
Oh Helen, I am so sorry to hear you and your family have been ill with Covid 19. I will pray for your husband’s complete recovery and that he is able to be at home with you soon. I hope the rest of you are fully recovered and not feeling any long term effects of the virus. Take care.
