It’s all about Spring Dishes and More at this week’s Hearth and Soul Link Party. Welcome!!
I’m loving the fresh start that spring brings, even when the weather isn’t up to much! What’s it like in your corner of the world? We’ve had some sunshine but mostly rain and it’s still not very warm. Temperatures are trying to creep up though, and I’m praying for sunny warm weather in the West Country this weekend. One of my best friend’s sons is getting married to a lovely young lady and we are looking forward to celebrating with them!
Last week on the blog I re-opened the discussion on what Being a Housewife in the 21st Century can mean.
It’s definitely not what some people think! Please do pop by and join the conversation on this fairly controversial (for me anyway!) blog post.
To help warm you up on cooler spring days, I shared a traditional British recipe with a history that dates back to the Raj.
My Best Vegetarian Mulligatawny Soup is a warmly spiced, comforting soup. It’s easy to make ahead and is great to have on hand for quick, healthy lunches.
Start your day off on the right food with this delicious twist on my family recipe for Bran Muffins.
My Carrot Walnut Bran Muffins are deliciously moist with crunchy nuts and a hint of spice – a bit like a healthier carrot cake!

Enjoy Hot-Smoked Salmon and Prawn Terrine, a fresh and light spring appetizer or snack from Once Upon a Food Blog
I’ve never eaten Boysenberries but I sure would like to visit The Boysenberry Festival at Knott’s Berry Farm like Jennifer of Smart Fun DIY did!
Wreaths for anything other than Christmas are still taking a while to catch on here in the UK, but with inspiration like these 25+ Beautiful DIY Spring Wreaths from Our Crafty Mom, there’s a chance I might be able to encourage my neighbours to turn over a new leaf!
Matcha is a revitalising and energising part of my heathy eating plan, so I can’t wait to try this Matcha Green Tea Frozen Yogurt from Pam of Sidewalk Shoes!

Your features sure let me know that Spring is in the Air and I am so happy about that! Hope you have a fantastic week and thanks so much for the party!
Miz Helen
I’m looking forward to more spring-like weather too, Miz Helen! I hope you have a fantastic week as well 🙂
Thank you, as always, for hosting, April! I don’t tend to buy muffins, but I love them when they’re homemade. And any recipe with carrot in will earn extra enthusiasm from me!
It’s a pleasure, Pauline! I’m glad you like the sound of the muffins too 🙂
Hello April, thanks for hosting the fun. I’m sharing a 6 minute instant pot pasta and meatballs. Have a wonderful week.
Julie
My pleasure, Julie! Six minutes to pasta and meatballs? That sounds fantastic! Hope you have a wonderful week too.
Thanks so much for the feature April!
You are so welcome, Pam. I really appreciate your support of Hearth and Soul too!
Your Mulligatawny Soup looks interesting. We have a show here called Seinfeld. In one episode there was a soup place and the main character kept ordering this soup. I always wondered what was in it. I hope you had a wonderful holiday with family and friends. Today I brought my Strawberry Crepes with Peach Sauce, Tag Along Cheesecake and Sausage and Hash Brown Cheddar Casserole Enjoy your week!
I didn’t realise Mulligatawny Soup had that kind of 5 minutes of fame – Seinfeld was such a great show! I hope your Easter was lovely too. Your recipes sound fantastic. Have a lovely week!
Remember the saying- April Showers bring May Flowers? Well the first 8 days of April brought rain everyday and chilly in Philadelphia- I’m looking forward to warmer weather too. Thanks for bringing spring to us this week in your spring linky.
We are having similar weather to you, Judee! I’m just praying that the rain lets up for this weekend, at least in the West Country, as we are heading there for a wedding! Thank you so much for visiting and sharing 🙂 Hope your week is going well.
April,
Making your Bran Muffins today! Can’t wait! thanks for hosting such a wonderful party each week!

That’s wonderful, Nancy! I hope you enjoy them as much as we do 🙂
Hi, April! We are still getting flurries but I’m ready for spring. I hope your week is off to a great start. Thanks for the party! XO
Hi Jas! At least it’s just rain here! Things are going well here, hope you are having a lovely week too! xo
Spring is in the air, but snow is in the forecast for this weekend. Sigh.
April snow can’t last forever!
I remember what it was like when I was growing up in Ontario, and it does sometimes seem like the snow will never go! I hope it clears up for you soon, Michele 🙂
Here I am … better late than ever, right? All I can think about it muffins right now so I’m eyeing your muffins approvingly (a gluten-free version, of course) and sharing two new recipes from my March Muffin Madness event. I never get tired of muffins. We enjoy them all year long although I’m guessing that some folks only have them during cold weather. I’m ready for real spring, so I might set the muffins aside it doing so will bring warm weather. 😉
Thanks for hosting, April! I like your points on being a modern day housewife.
Shirley
I never get tired of muffins either, Shirley! They come in so many different varieties 🙂 I’m glad you liked my article on being a modern day housewife. Hope your week is going well 🙂
Thanks for the party April! Have a terrific week!
Your soup looks wonderful. I can’t wait to give it a try. Though it is supposedly spring, our weather hasn’t cooperated here in the USA midwest. Sooo cold this past weekend in St. Louis and significant snow in Chicago! I hope you have lovely weather for the wedding. I can’t wait to see pictures of you and your hats!
Thank you so much, Wendy! I hope you love the soup. Thank you about the wedding too – I’m getting very excited about it 🙂
