Hello there and welcome to the summer celebrations Hearth and Soul Hop Link Party for July 4th through July 9th. We invite you to share all family-friendly posts as well as, of course, recipes for food from the hearth to feed your soul. Old and new posts are welcome!
Although our weather hasn’t been wonderful, England’s summer celebrations and events are in full swing. I had a lot of fun with my husband and our friends at The Henley Royal Regatta last week and we are looking forward to The Henley Festival coming up later this week. I’ll be sharing more about the festival in another post.
Have you ever had a traditional British afternoon tea or High Tea as it is sometimes called?
Last week I shared some of the best places to have Afternoon Tea in London – including my favourite. Get some ideas for upcoming visits to London or just enjoy a virtual visit with me!
I’m all about seasonal fruit and my latest cake really lets it shine.
My easy to make Blackberry and Apple Cake is a family favourite and is perfect for any summer celebration – or just because!
Thank you so much for sharing your posts last week! This week I’m featuring Summer Celebrations from last week’s hop.

Hi April,
Thank you so much for the awesome feature today for my 25 Recipes for 4th of July, and you are so right these are great all summer. I would love a nice slice of your Blackberry Apple Cake to go with my afternoon tea, it would be delicious. Hope you are having a good day and thanks so much for the party!
Miz Helen
My pleasure, Miz Helen! I wish I could share a slice of my Blackberry Apple Cake with you – maybe one day! Hope you are having a lovely week.
Your blackberry cake looks divine, April! And I love reading about all your adventures, of course. My girlfriends and I love to have a proper tea out or enjoy one we host ourselves, which we do fairly regularly. Enjoying tea out is usually more challenging for me being gf, but I’ve always made it work.
This week I’ve linked up my Coconut Mug Pie (ready in 3 minutes!) and Chocolate Cherry Milkshake (a cherry-enhanced frosty!).
Have a great week!
Shirley
Thank you so much, Shirley. Some of our UK restaurants are offering gluten free afternoon tea – it’s happening slowly, but it’s happening 🙂 Your recipes sound so delicious – I look forward to visiting your posts!
April, thank you so much for the feature! I hope you have a fabulous week. 🙂
My pleasure, Leigh. I hope your week is wonderful too!
I wish I could experience afternoon tea or high tea with you in England! Guess I’ll just have to enjoy it virtually with you. Fabulous pictures of it!
