Welcome to The Hearth and Soul Link Party! With a very special Canada Day and The 4th of July approaching I’ve got summer entertaining on my mind – so this week’s features are all about fun with family and friends.
At The Hearth and Soul Link Party, posts about anything that feeds your soul are welcome – from family, home, decorating, crafts and DIY to travel, organisation, book reviews, the arts and self improvement. And of course, food from the hearth to feed your soul is a real favourite here too!
Our visit to the gorgeous Elizabethan stately home, Burghley House, last weekend was wonderful. I’ll be sharing a post about it in the next couple of days so please do watch this space! Click here for a sneak preview!!
The UK summer ‘season’ has started and there’s all sorts of fun to be had! We were too busy to attend Royal Ascot this year, but we will be at The Henley Regatta this week, and The Henley Festival next week. Wimbledon is coming up too. It’s a very busy and exciting time of the year for us.

Last week I shared a post about The Queen’s favourite summer horse racing meeting. Royal Ascot is an iconic British summer event full of fashion, food and glamour, a fun event to visit whether you are a fan of horse racing or not.
I also shared memories of one of our favourite Paris restaurants and its recipes – including this easy Salade Frisée aux Lardons. It’s perfect for summer entertaining. Crispy bits of bacon (lardons) are fried and used to garnish a lightly dressed salad topped with poached eggs. As the egg yolk drips into the lettuce it becomes part of the dressing. The contrast of this with the salty tang of the bacon makes this one of my favourite salads in the whole wide world.
