It’s all about summer fun at this week’s Hearth and Soul Link Party! Summers in England can be disappointing, but this year we’ve had tons of sun and very warm temperatures. It’s a refreshing change!
A lot of folks are talking about summer’s end, but for children and young people in the UK, summer fun is only beginning. Most finished school only a week ago for the summer break. So while I always love a bit of pumpkin spice and looking forward to fall, I’m hanging on to summer for just a few more weeks.
Last week I posted a recipe I’ve been making for years but never quite got round to blogging – Spicy Crab Topped Cod.
This easy, versatile and flavourful dish can be on the table in 30 minutes. While it’s great for busy weeknights, it’s also wonderful for entertaining. Plus you can adjust the spice to suit your family, and there are gluten and dairy free options too.
I also shared a style post for the first time in ages!
With hints and tips to help you wear one dress many different ways, you can enjoy your favourite dresses more, and save money too.
Summer Fun Features
It’s all about summer fun this week, and ways to enjoy this lovely last month of summer 2018.
How to have more summer fun? Here are some ideas (from top left, clockwise):-
Take some time out to enjoy a Vintage Garden Tour with Laura of Decor To Adore. I thoroughly enjoyed my relaxing and restorative virtual visit. Don’t miss the wee magical visitors!
Enjoy a beautiful dessert that is good for you too with Zoe and Mia of Unconventional Cooks. Their Healthy Banana Caramel Nice Cream Cake is grain-free and vegan. Healthy really can be delicious too!
Freshen up your indoor spaces whilst giving yourself time out to think with inspiration from Poofing the Pillows’ entertaining essay Thoughts While Cleaning The Refrigerator. I’m so pleased to know I’m not the only one whose mind wanders when I’m cleaning!
Make a virtual visit to The Chapel Hill Farmer’s Market with Nancy of On The Home Front. Let it encourage you to visit a local farmer’s market in real life! Even if you have your own veg patch, there’s nothing like exploring a traditional farmer’s market. Of course, the best bit is coming home and making delicious things!

April I am such a seafood lover and your crab topped cod looks so good! You may want to try it with the potato rolls I shared this week! Honestly, they are some of the best rolls I have ever made or eaten! Thank you for this opportunity to share them.

April,
I love the ideas how you made so many unique changes with one dress. I have to remember that next time we travel. With best intentions, I always take too much and tend to repeat the outfits I like best anyway. Thanks for a great idea and hosting the great party.
Thank you so much, Judee! Packing is definitely easy when I take Sarah’s advice! I hope you are having a wonderful week 🙂
Definitely hanging on to summer and in no hurry for a seasonal change!
Me too, Michele, although I’m looking forward to a bit of cooler weather later this week. We are dropping from the mid eighties to the mid seventies and I can’t wait! Hope you are having a lovely week!
Thanks for another great party Sure appreciate you hosting each week!
Nancy (Nancy On The Home Front )
Thank you so much for visiting and sharing, Nancy, and for all your support. I hope you are having a lovely week!
Loving all the looks of your dress, April. They all look classy but the first one especially. Such a lovely color combination. We had a really hot and humid summer but I’m not ready for pumpkin spice just yet, only because it means snow is right behind it, lol. Enjoy the rest of your summer, my dear! x
Thank you so much, Jas! The first look is one of my favourites as well 🙂 I hope you are enjoying your summer too, my friend! x
April, thank you for hosting. I love seeing different ways of styling one dress!
Hi April! It’s been a while. It’s been a long time between blog posts so I’ve finally got around to sharing something worthwhile sharing. I see you guys have been having extremely warm weather over there. Here it’s been a cold winter, for me anyway. I hate the cold. Only 21 more days until Spring but who’s counting? Lol
Thanks for the party. It’s great to be back.
Anne xx
Hi Anne! It’s lovely to ‘see’ you! Welcome back, my friend! I’m excited to see what you have shared. It has been really hot over here, but it seems to be letting up a bit today…Hope it warms up for you very soon. Have a lovely weekend xx
