With US Thanksgiving fast approaching, there’s a focus on Thanksgiving inspiration here at The Hearth and Soul Link Party this week. Welcome! I’m so glad you are here!
At the Hearth and Soul Link Party, you can share blog posts old and new, about anything that feeds the soul. This includes – but is not limited to – family, home, recipes, decorating, crafts, DIY, travel, organisation, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.
My family and I celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving in October , but I’m very lucky to have an American friend who very kindly invites us to enjoy US Thanksgiving in November as well. It’s an event we look forward to all year, and this year is no exception!
What’s Been Happening?
With Remembrance Day and Armistice Day in the Commonwealth Countries, and Veteran’s Day in the US, all taking place this week, I’m thinking a lot about Why It’s Important To Remember. I also share some of my Grandfather’s memories from World War One.
The blog and social media photo shoot last week went really well.
I had so much fun working with 4 very talented and creative ladies (from left – Nisha of Blush and Curls, Sarah from Absolutely Fabulous Image, me, and Tara Taylor, the photographer). The photo was taken by our assistant, Shirley.
We built up a great library of photos for the blog and more for fall, Christmas and the first quarter of 2020. I’m so excited to share them with you over the coming months.
Upcoming Giveaway!
My newsletter subscribers got the first first peek behind the scenes at the shoot in my latest newsletter, and in my next newsletter I’ll be sharing a subscriber only giveaway to celebrate my 17th Blogiversary this year.
If you haven’t already, please do pop your name on the mailing list to keep up with the latest. You’ll receive my mini e-book 5 Vintage Family Recipes. I’m also planning more exclusive free content in the New Year!
On the Blog
I’ve always loved vegetables – and was even vegetarian for a time in my late teens, so it’s no surprise that vegetarian and vegan meals feature regularly on our weekly meal plan.
In my post Becoming An Occasional Vegetarian, I share ideas, recipes and easy ways to eat less meat to benefit your health, your budget and the environment.
Thank you all for visiting and sharing your wonderful content with the Hearth and Soul Link Party!

No one in our family is vegetarian, but so many people are, it’s good to have some good recipes on hand for them. Thanks!
I’m so glad you will find the post helpful, Barbara! It’s always great to have some vegetarian recipes on hand just in case 🙂
We have cut back on eating meat and I tend to make soups with no meat, and fish or a pasta dish with veggies. Thanks for hosting and enjoy the week April.
Thank you so much for visiting and sharing, Julie! I think a lot of people are taking steps to reduce their meat consumption these days. Those ideas sound great! I hope you have a lovely week too.
Thank you for hosting each week

Thank you so much, Miz Helen! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I hope you are having a great week too 🙂
Thank you for hosting! I too was vegetarian for 3 years and have an affinity to our veggies 🙂 Have a wonderful week!
My pleasure, Suzan! That’s interesting you were a vegetarian for some time too. I hope you have a wonderful week as well!
My son and I were doing better with the flexitarian thing before we moved. At this point we live 50 miles away from any city, so we have to plan our shopping trips a bit more carefully. We’ll work more vegetarian dishes back into the menu. Things have been kind of chaotic for the last few months.
That is definitely a distance from a city for sure! It must make it very challenging. I’m very lucky to have local shops less than 2 miles away, and bigger ones about 3 or 4 miles away. I think every little bit helps when it comes to eating less meat, so even one vegetarian meal here and there makes a difference 🙂
I am trying to cut back on eating meat. It is a challenge but I am trying. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
My husband and I try to eat a couple meatless meals a week. I’ve been making more bean dishes and vegetable stews and the like.
I enjoyed seeing your photoshoot photos on in your newsletter, April! It looked like a fun day!
That’s wonderful, Pat. I think that every meatless meal makes a difference 🙂 And thank you, I’m so pleased you enjoyed the photos. It really was fun!
I hope my recipes might help you, Patrick 🙂 It sounds like you are making good progress though. I hope you have a wonderful week as well!

Two Thanksgivings sounds fabulous! And, because my daughter is vegan, i am always finding ways to make her a variety of dishes. Thank you!
It really is, Helen! I feel very lucky. It can really help to have someone who is vegetarian or vegan to cook for. I think it sharpens your inspiration 🙂 Have a lovely week!
What great ways to cut down on meat consumption! It’s something I need to work on, even though we have no plans for going completely vegetarian. Thanks for hosting! I brought by some Italian Dressing Seasoning. Hope you enjoy. 🙂
Thank you, CJ! I don’t have plans to go completely vegetarian either 🙂 Thank you for visiting and sharing! Have a lovely week.
