We are knee deep in fall here! In the United Kingdom, our clocks ‘fall back’ this coming weekend. I used to dread the darker evenings, because I’ve reframed this time of year as the cozy season, I look at them a whole new way! One of the best ways to make the most of fall is to embrace it as the cozy season and really enjoy the comfort and joy that can bring. So grab a warm drink, cuddle up with a blanket on the sofa, and join me for this week’s Hearth and Soul Link Party!
At the Hearth and Soul Link Party, you can share blog posts old and new, about anything that feeds the soul. This includes – but is not limited to – family, home, recipes, decorating, crafts, DIY, travel, organisation, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.
What’s New On The Blog
An important part of the cozy season for me is baking treats for family and friends. Don’t miss my latest recipes – both of which have stories behind them!
My Orange Pecan Cookies are delicate enough for afternoon tea with tea in china cups, but hearty enough to serve with a glass of milk after a tough day at school. You will want to keep a roll of these slice and bake marvels in the fridge or freezer at all times!
This easy Pumpkin Cake recipe is warmly spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg, and studded with walnuts and raisins. It’s delicious frosted or plain!
Plus I’m sharing my tips on how to look good and feel your best while travelling.

Thank you for hosting once again, April! It’s the “cozy season” here on the hill now as well. Sadly this season brings with it not only a sense of coziness but also some nasty bugs. Just in time to keep us healthy, I’m sharing Fire Cider & Its Many Benefits with #7.
Have a wonderful week!
Thank you for visiting and sharing, Suzan. I hope your week is wonderful too!

Thank you for hosting! This is what I featured the week of 10-14 to 10-18 on my blog. On Tuesday morning was a No Bake Apple Cinnamon Cheesecake With Streusel Crust. Wednesday I posted a Rich Strawberry Cheesecake Supreme. Wrapping up this week of cheesecake I highlighted a Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake. Enjoy!
Oh how lovely, Marilyn! Cheesecake is a favourite of mine.
Thanks for hosting another fabulous Fall party!!
Thank you for visiting and sharing, Katie!
“The Cozy Season!”
Yes!
And I recently heard it called the blanket season, too. Just add a good book and a cup of tea!
Thank you, Michele! “The blanket season” is a nice turn of phrase as well 🙂 Have a lovely week!
That pumpkin cake looks so good! I’m sometimes a little reluctant to let summer go, but I do love the cooler weather and vibrant colors and coziness of fall.
Thank you, Barbara! I hope your week is a lovely one!
Hi April! We are just starting to get cozy here in Phoenix, AZ! I love the fall and for us it comes and goes way too quickly. Have a great week!
Hi Helen! I can imagine it’s still pretty warm where you are! I hope you enjoy your week!
Thank you for hosting, and have a great week!
It’s a pleasure, Cherryl! I hope your week is lovely too!
I’m thinking I need to try those orange pecan cookies, but maybe with a different nut! Thanks for hosting! I brought by some Burger and Veggie Foil Packs. Hope you enjoy. 🙂
They would definitely work with another kind of nut, CJ. Orange is such a versatile flavour and goes with so many things. Thank you for sharing your recipe – it sounds delicious!
I love how you’ve reframed the dark months as “cozy.” I may have to try that. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, and honestly our winter temperatures are very mild. We seldom drop below freezing at night in the coldest months. My strategy has been to ignore winter, pretending our warm weather was just around the corner. LOL! In all honesty the cooler temperatures don’t bother me, because they are seriously not that cold, but the short days do. I’m going to try thinking of them as cozy. Thanks for the great suggestion!
I’m so glad my suggestion resonated with you, Michelle! I have often struggled with the darker evenings and reframing them certainly helped me. I hope it works for you too!
Thanks for hosting and we haven’t hit coziness here. It is still pretty warm. Hope you have a wonderful week.
I hope the good weather continues for you, Patrick! Thank you for visiting and sharing. Wishing you a wonderful week too!
I’m out on a lot of seasonal desserts because I don’t care for pecans or pumpkin. laurensparks.net
That must make it challenging, Lauren. I do have a few Banana Cake recipes you might enjoy – and you could switch out the pecans for another nut in pretty much any of my recipes. I hope this helps!
Hello name twin! 🙂 Thank you so very much for featuring my Crockpot Vegetarian Chili, what a sweet surprise. Fall is my favorite season of the year, and I love your description of it as “The Cozy Season”. The nights are getting pretty chilly in my area, so I’m sitting here wrapped up in a blanket and drinking coffee while I read. Cozy definitely describes how I feel right now.
Thanks for hosting and enjoy the rest of your week.
Hello April! It’s nice to have a name twin – there aren’t all that many of us Aprils around! 🙂 It’s my pleasure to feature your chili, and I’m so glad the cozy season resonated with you too. I hope you have a lovely rest of the week!
Thank you so much for the party. Have a great week. Linda @Crafts a la mode
I hope you have a great week too, Linda!
thanks for hosting this party each week.
Thank you for visiting, Sylvia!
April, I so agree with you about the Cozy Season, and both those treats are perfect for it! Thank you for hosting this wonderful linkup.
Thank you so much, Jean! I really appreciate your support of Hearth and Soul!
Thank you for the inspiring ideas and recipes – GREAT party as always. Have a WONDERFUL week.
Thank you so much, Tamy! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
Admittedly the shift to less daylight at the end of the day is always a tough one for me (and it happens here this Sunday) but I am all about cozy! I read about the Danish/Norwegian custom of hygge a few years back and thought it was a brilliant way to look at this time of year.
Those slice-and-bake Orange Pecan Cookies look wonderful. I bet they could easily be adapted to be gluten free.
Shirley
Thank you, Shirley! Yes, I’m sure it would be quite easy to adapt the recipe to gluten free. I should give it a try!
