Hello February! Welcome to The Hearth and Soul Link Party! Valentines Day is fast approaching, and it’s not just about romantic love. You can celebrate all kinds of love so nobody gets left out. So whatever kinds of love you are celebrating this year, there’s lots of Valentines Day inspiration here.
Whether your blog posts are old or new, as long as they are about things that feed the soul, they are welcome here at The Hearth and Soul Link Party! Things that feed the soul may include (but are not limited to) recipes, decorating, crafts, family, home, DIY, organization, travel, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.
What’s New?
How are things in your corner of the world? My husband and I have been working hard this weekend. Not only are we getting our son and his partner’s room ready to be decorated for when they next visit, we were also clearing out a storage unit and our loft (attic). We even rented a van to make it easier.
We have been in our house for over a dozen years, so there was quite a lot to go through. We did end up going a little stir crazy at one point, so we veered off course for a quick trip to a lovely garden centre.
It was very restorative, and I can’t wait to plant these beauties in my garden.
I’ve got some Valentines Day Inspiration of my own to share with you too.
From brownies to cakes and more formal desserts, these are some of our favourite Valentine’s Day Desserts.
Thank you to everyone who visited and shared last week. There were so many wonderful posts, and so many with a Valentine’s Day theme, it was hard to choose features. If you are looking for Valentines Day inspiration, be sure to pop back and check out the links at last week’s Hearth and Soul Link Party I’m sure there will be lots shared here this week as well!

I love how easy this Valentine’s Day Dollar Tree Wreath from Emily at 2 Dishing Divas is to make – and it’s so pretty too!
Settle down with a cup of tea and enjoy reading Dragonfly Treasure’s account of her visit to a Renaissance Fair. She also shares some interesting Valentine’s Day traditions and lore, as well as a delicious recipe for a lovely Valentine’s Day cocktail.

April, I love a good day of clearing out! My husband says I’m the only woman in the world who enjoys getting rid of stuff more than getting stuff! 😀 My link today is about feeding my soul. I hope readers will give me lots of feedback about it. Enjoy the visit from Son & Co!
April Harris says
Hi Jean, I popped by your post and commented. I totally agree, it’s important to find balance. I love what your husband says about you = that’s a great way to be!

I so agree that Valentine’s is not just about romance. We’ve always made it a family celebration. I have heart-shaped cupcake pans and traditionally make cupcakes with them (just a gluten-free chocolate cake mix) with homemade frosting and sprinkles. Then I make the peanut butter cookies that usually have a Hershey’s kiss on top, only instead of that I use heart-shaped chocolates on top. Doves has bags of them this time of year (a reminder for me to get some next time I am at the store).
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Thank you for the feature, April! That put a spring in my step 😉
We visited our garden center last week, but it’s too early for any yard plants. I did pick up some fava beans and sweet peas that can be planted in March. That’s as good as it’s going to get in Idaho this early in the year.
Enjoy your new plants
April Harris says
I’m so glad you are pleased, Rachelle, and thank you! 🙂

I need to be as diligent as you are in getting a room redone in my house. We totally redid one of my daughter’s rooms (all my kids are grown now) a few years back but now we need to redo the other room. It’s not fun to me. ha. But it needs to be done. Thanks for sharing about your project. Maybe it will spur me on.
April Harris says
I think it’s about keeping the balance of it still being their (the adult child’s) room, so that they always have the wonderful feeling of coming home, with making the room useable when they are not there, Lisa. It’s definitely a fine balance, that is for sure. I’m really involving my son in the process so that he feels connected – luckily we have very similar tastes!
Patrick Weseman says

Love the fun pic of you and hubby! Sweet ♥ Purging is a never ending cycle it seems, at my home anyway. I move things out, but then i find more things to replace them with! ugh! LOL Thank you soo much for the feature this week. Very much appreciated. So many interesting and fun posts.
Still trying to get over this inhalation pneumonia I got due to not remembering not to lay down for 10 mins after taking it. It was my last pill, now I know why you aren’t supposed to lay down…LOL I was on from my dentist…actually the inhalation pneumonia isn’t bothering me as much as the new antibiotic, so many side effects. I feel like I’m 100.
*hugs*
deb
April Harris says
Oh my goodness, Deb, I’m sorry you haven’t been well. Having inhalation pneumonia must be really uncomfortable. Take it easy and I hope you feel better soon. Thank you for the compliment, we did manage to make the clearing a bit of fun – although it had it challenges! I totally understand what you mean about purging and then replacing! Take care. Hugs!
