Best Barbecue Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
 
 

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves peeled (or 2 teaspoons Very Lazy Garlic)
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup white wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the onion and cook over low heat until it begins to become translucent (about 5 minutes).
  • Grate in the garlic (or add the Very Lazy Garlic).
  • Cook for a minute.
  • Stir in the ketchup, vinegar, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt and pepper.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring almost constantly.
  • Turn the heat down to low and simmer for ten minutes.
  • Use immediately or remove from the pan, cool quickly and store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
