Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease or line a 12-muffin muffin pan or use disposable mini loaf pans.
Cream the butter and sugar in an electric mixer.
Add the egg, vanilla and applesauce.
Beat for about one minute until light and fluffy.
Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together into a large bowl.
Remove the bowl from the electric mixer.
Add the sifted flour mixture to the applesauce mixture and stir in using a wooden spoon, just until blended.
Stir in the raisins and pecans.
Divide the batter between the muffin pans or loaf pans.
Mix together the white sugar and cinnamon.
Sprinkle over the muffins or mini loaves.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the centre of the muffins comes out clean.
