The July Edition – What’s New
Summer is full of sporting and social events in the UK. From Ascot to Wimbledon to Polo, The Henley Regatta and so much more, this is definitely the time of year to be out and about here in the UK.
My husband and I attended an exhibition of paintings by Pissarro at The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford early in the month. I am a huge fan of the Impressionists and it was amazing to see so many of the paintings I have admired in books in real life.
We also went to the movies for the first time since before the pandemic. Top Gun Maverick was our film of choice and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was fun to watch a sequel to the original Maverick and we thought it was really well done. Have you been to the movies post pandemic yet? I’m hoping see the new film about Elvis next.
This week we spent some time up in London and attended The London Concours at The Honourable Royal Artillery Company. Later in the week we visited The Henley Regatta at our club, Phyllis Court. The last time we attended the Henley Regatta was in 2019 so it was lovely to be back! This weekend we are at the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club Annual Rally and Concours d’Elegance at Burghley House. We have brought my husband’s two vintage cars to the rally. It’s so nice to be enjoying a traditional British summer once again!

Comments & Reviews
I tried to link up, but it’s not working! After I’ve entered my password, the Facebook and Google buttons each open a blank window for a second and then close it–I never get a chance to share a link!
Anyway, here are my reviews of urban planning books, a mystery thriller, a time-travel novel, and a feminist manifesto!
I was able to post a link by creating an InLinkz account. But I still want you to know that the Facebook and Google login options are not working, at least for me!
Hi Becca, There must have been a problem with InLinkz. I didn’t know that you could login with Facebook or Google – I thought you had to have an InLinkz login and I’ve always used my email to do it. I’m really glad you got it to work in the end. Thank you for visiting and sharing.
Happy July, April! June was a tough month on so many levels so I’m hoping that July–my birthday month and the birthday month for my sister, niece, and several dear friends as well–will bring much better things.
I checked out your Mom’s coleslaw recipe. It sounds and looks delicious. And I didn’t know that red cabbage has more nutritional benefits than green but I do love it so I wonder if my body somehow knew. 😉
This week I linked up a new fudge recipe (thanks to a new product–a game changer for those who eat dairy free) and a post that highlights some terrific info on celiac awareness and gluten-free living. While May is Celiac Awareness Month here, with the majority of folks with celiac (about 90% I believe) still remaining undiagnosed, we definitely need ongoing awareness.
Off to check out the featured posts. (Love your beautiful poster for those!)
Have a great week and month!
Shirley
Happy July, Shirley! I’m sorry June was a tough month. I hope you have a wonderful July and a lovely birthday too.
I’m so glad you like my Mom’s coleslaw recipe – it really is so delicious! I’m very interested to find out about the new dairy-free product, and I’m so glad that you are sharing more information about celiac disease.
Thank you for the compliment – I’m so pleased you like the poster. I hope you have a wonderful week and month too!
Happy July April and thank you for hosting! I shared my Cilantro Lime Shrimp Bowls, a light and refreshing summer meal. I have been enjoying your travel posts this past month!
Thank you so much, Leslie. I’m so glad you are enjoying the travel posts too!

Miz Helen
It’s a pleasure, Miz Helen, and thank you so much!
Thanks April for hosting this fabulous blog party. Like the idea that it’s a month long and that gives me plenty of time to read and share posts. My contributions this month are #31, 32, 33, and 34. Happy July and love that travel piece on Kinsale. Thanks for showing us the sights.
Thank you so much for visiting and sharing, Nancy. I’m so glad you enjoyed my post on Kinsale!
Have a wonderful week April – always excited when your party posts! 🙂
Thank you so much, Ramona! I hope you have a wonderful week as well.
How did July sneak up on us so quickly?
I have no idea, Michele! I really can’t believe it myself!!
It does seem strange that we are halfway through the month already. Sounds like you had such a fun month! We’ve not been to a movie theater since before the pandemic, but then we’re not big movie-goers anyway. My husband can’t because a detached retina and subsequent surgery made it so he can’t comfortable watch such a big screen. When my youngest son was home, we’d go sometimes in the afternoons. But then he had to grow up and get a job. 🙂 I miss those outings, though.
I’m sorry your husband had a detached retina, Barbara. I know what you mean though, I miss outings with our son when he was younger too.
We definitely had a fun month. It’s really nice to be able to do a few more things again. Thank you so much for visiting and sharing!
Thank you for hosting April, I enjoyed your virtual tour of your trip.
Visiting from #46&47
Thank you so much for visiting and sharing, Paula. I look forward to visiting your posts.
I have also visited Kinsale in Ireland, April. It s a very friendly and colorful town. Your cherry loaf looks fabulous! Using up fruit by baking it into cakes is so good! I hope you are having a very enjoyable summer!
I’m so pleased you have been to Kinsale too, Pat. It really is a lovely place. Thank you for the compliment – I do love using fruit in cakes! Our summer is going really well. I hope yours is too. Thank you for visiting and sharing.
We saw Maverick in the theaters too; I thought it was a great sequel and really well done.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it too, Joanne 🙂
Thanks so much for hosting! Have a great week!
Thank you, Kristin! I hope your week is wonderful too!
I love your Ireland trip. Very nice. Thanks for the feature. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
Thank you, Patrick! I hope you are having a wonderful week as well!
April, thanks so much for making this space available to your fellow bloggers. Blessings!
Thank you so much for visiting and sharing, Donna! Blessings to you!
April! Thanks so much for featuring my cute granddaughter’s baking video! She will be thrilled!
It’s my pleasure, Helen! I’m so glad your granddaughter will be pleased 🙂
oh! I tried to link up, but it’s not working! The Google buttons goes ok, but the button ‘add your link’ never shows :((
I’m so sorry you are having problems linking up. It’s working for me just now. I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you mean by the Google buttons. The link up is through InLinkz, so you should be seeing a blue Inlinkz button? I guess that is the one you are saying wasn’t showing…Perhaps InLinkz was down when you tried? To get InLinkz to work on my Mac I have to go into Safari Preferences and disable the content blockers and allow pop ups. Are you on a Mac or a PC? I hope this helps…Someone else had a problem earlier this month and I believe it was just an intermittent fault with InLinkz as they were able to link up eventually. Please can you try again?
The Google and Facebook button is above InLinkz section so I was trying it and it was the problem. Now I used InLinkz and it works 🙂 thank you for you help :*
I’m so glad it worked! It’s my pleasure, I’m glad I could help.
