What happened to September?! Did it fly by for you too?
We definitely had a busy month, but we managed to fit in some fun as well.
We took our 955 Chevy Bel Air and our 1977 Silver Shadow 2 along for the ride when we went to Goodwood Revival, a celebration of vintage cars and fashion. The focus was particularly on the 1940’s and 50’s and we had a lot of fun dressing up.
My husband and Guy and I had a few overnight stays in London here and there, a good balance of work related and leisure. We also had a lovely long weekend with our son and his partner at Hambledon Hall overlooking Rutland Water. It was very relaxing and restorative.
Our renovations are finally moving forward at a more comfortable pace. As I write this, the Amtico flooring in the entryway, dining room, kitchen, utility and guest cloakroom is being finished off. As we enter week 17 of the renovations, there’s a fair ways to go still but this is (finally!) huge progress. You can read more about our renovation journey and what it is teaching me in my latest Instagram post.
And of course, with the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend coming up on October 8th and 9th, I’m wishing all my fellow Canadians a very Happy Thanksgiving!
On The Blog – October 2023 Edition
October is definitely one of my favourite months, and I’m excited we will be spending some of it in Canada where the autumns are even more beautiful than here in the UK.
You can find some ideas and inspiration to help you make the most of this time of year in my post Great Things To Do In October.
I am so enjoying spending some time in the kitchen once again. There’s a brand new recipe on the blog, inspired by the gift of some fresh figs from a neighbour’s garden.
Pork Chops with Figs and Port Sauce is such a delicious recipe and it’s incredibly versatile too. You can even make the recipe with chicken and plums if you prefer!

April, that is such a gorgeous photo of you! I can’t wear that color but it’s stunning on you!
I always enjoy hearing about your adventures and seeing your highlights.
I’m ready for all the Fall goodness! I always love Leslie’s recipes and some of those other treats can easily be made gluten free. I always appreciate that! The photos of Lake Louise are simply stunning although I think I do actually prefer visiting in the summer as I have in the past. 😉 Nearby Lake Moraine is even more gorgeous than Lake Louise IMHO.
I’ve linked up my new Perfect Gluten-Free Crab Cakes and some kid-friendly hot beverages, including Velvety Pumpkin Spice “Latte,” which can be made high test for the adults. 😉
Thanks so much for hosting! Have a wonderful month!
