Welcome to The September Edition of The Hearth and Soul Link Party. I hope you had a lovely August! Although I get very excited about September and all the new beginnings it offers, it’s important to enjoy the last days of summer. The Autumn Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere is on 23rd September this year, so this is the perfect time to enjoy the best of both seasons.
The Hearth and Soul Link Party welcomes family-friendly blog posts about anything that feeds the soul. Things that feed the soul may include (but are not limited to) recipes, decorating, crafts, family, home, DIY, organization, travel, book reviews, the arts and self improvement.
The September Edition – What’s New
We returned from Hawaii at the beginning of Afternoon Tea Week, so I was back to work with a bang! I am also taking some very interesting courses in everything from food styling to home design. Of course, I’m also reading self-development books. I loved How Are You Really by Jenna Kutcher and Chill and Prosper by Denise Duffield-Thomas is currently on my nightstand.
I also made a visit to a local flower farm for some pick your own adventures. It was a great way to spend an hour or so. My family and I have been enjoying some late summer vintage car rallies as well.
Here we are at the Annual Phyllis Court Classic Car Display. From the left, our Bentley Turbo R, my son Alexander and his partner, Hannah of Ms Hannah Sings with their vintage Mini named Merida (Meri for short). Beside Meri, it’s my husband and I and our Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II. Meri has all sorts of adventures and even has her own Instagram account!
New On The Blog
It’s a celebration of late summer and early fall on the blog with lots of delicious recipes and ideas to make the most of both seasons. There’s delicious Blueberry Chia Muffins for breakfast and snacks and Raspberry Bakewell Tart Squares for a treat, a peek After Hours at Windsor Castle and some of my favourite Things to Do in Venice. Don’t miss these 5 Easy Steps To Help You Refresh Your Wardrobe for a new season without spending a fortune.
I am also exploring how I can help other women in business and my fellow bloggers with my 20 years of experience in blogging. (My first website launched in October 2002.) The first in a series of posts, How a Blog Can Help Your Business, is designed for entrepreneurs and small businesses. There will be more posts to come covering both blogging for business and blogging in general. Don’t worry though, I’m still very focused on delicious recipes, ideas to help you make the most of your home, travel stories and tips plus ideas to help you embrace your own unique style! It’s all part of making the most of life at home and away!
This Month In My Kitchen – September Edition
I’m making lots of stir fries with fresh seasonal vegetables, including my Beef and Vegetable Stir Fry with a Sweet and Spicy Sauce and my vegan and gluten-free Kung Pao Cauliflower. I often make my Apple and Blackberry Cake this time of year as local apples and blackberries are both abundant now. I also make my Apple Pear and Pecan Streusel Muffins using fresh local fruit.

Happy September, April! I’m happy that you’ve been doing so many fun things. I know how that fuels one’s soul! Your Kung Pao Cauliflower dish looks and sounds divine! Plus, I love all your highlights this month. The recipes and the other posts. You’re right that those flower and bird photos are simply stunning. I don’t think I could do the mountain ride in Colorado. I need guard rails!
This time I’ve linked up a good end-of-summer roundup of gluten-free peach dessert recipes and a recipe that’s new to gfe–gluten-free angel food cupcakes because not everyone wants to make or has the eggs and cake pan to make a full-sized cake.
May September be good to all of us! Thanks for Hearth and Soul!

I love the transition of September. It will be a few weeks before we get cool fall breezes, but every day gets us closer.
Our family had some fun outings in August, too–including a Lego convention, a couple of museums, and a hot air balloon festival.
