I hope that you had a wonderful holiday season and that 2025 is off to a great start. As I write this, we are in Paris celebrating our son Alexander and his partner Hannah’s early January birthdays. I have been enjoying finding some new places to visit to add to my existing Paris content, and I also have some more excellent Paris restaurants to share with you.

This month on the website, I’m focusing on ways to kick off the year on a positive note. However, I don’t believe it’s essential to make resolutions, plan major changes, or set ambitious goals, unless that’s something you truly want to do. Instead, let’s approach the New Year with a spirit of kindness toward ourselves. There are lots of ideas and recipes for hors d’oeuvres and nibbles in Easy Appetizers for Relaxed Entertaining. While I targeted this post at the holiday season, these recipes are definitely perfect all year round.

Judy from Recipes Simple shared her Oatmeal Cake with Coconut Pecan Frosting, an homage to a cake her Grandmother served years ago. I love recipes that incorporate oatmeal as it adds such a lovely texture and flavour as well an element of wholesomeness!
