Welcome to the September 2024 Edition of The Hearth and Soul Link Party! Do you look at September as a fresh start too? Even though fall does not officially begin until the 22nd, I feel like the 1st of September offers a great opportunity to reset, evaluate where we are in our journeys, and make plans to move forward in a positive direction.
The Hearth and Soul Link Party welcomes family-friendly blog posts about anything that feeds the soul. Things that feed the soul may include (but are not limited to) recipes, decorating, crafts, family, home, DIY, organization, travel, book reviews, the arts, and self improvement.
Are you excited for autumn or are you reluctant to say goodbye to summer (or winter if you are in the southern hemisphere)? Please let me know in the comments!
I’m excited to share the latest news, but first –

I have had some wonderful compliments on the content I share in my updates – Anna, a lovely reader, wrote, “Last week, a really brilliant newsletter arrived in my inbox. Most newsletters are not newsy, but April’s is fab! Fabulously written and beautifully presented, it’s always a treat to see.”
Even better, from September my email updates are going to include even more behind the scenes and exclusive content. Afternoon Tea Week
August 12 to 18th marked Afternoon Tea Week here in the UK, so we celebrated all things afternoon tea here too! Whether you want to get the inside scoop on what afternoon tea really involves – including the difference between high tea, afternoon tea and teatime – or you are looking for delicious recipes and ideas for afternoon tea, I’ve got you! If you are planning ahead, there’s a special Easter Afternoon Tea – and if travel to London is in your future, don’t miss my favourite places to enjoy afternoon tea in our capital city!
Fall Recipes
I think fall is one of my favourite times to cook and bake, and there are lots of fall recipes on the blog to prove it! One of my favourite bakes is this Blackberry and Apple Cake, closely followed by my Pear and Ginger Cake (the latter has a gluten-free option too). Or try my Gluten-Free Blackberry and Apple Scones.

These Red, White and Blue Meringues from Lisa and Pete at Drugstore Divas look so pretty. They suggest making them in different colours to suit different holidays which sounds like a lot of fun to me!
If you are thinking of landscaping your garden, there lots of inspiration in this Landscape Renovation article from Sandra at Dinner at Eight! Sandra shares the project at her mother-in-law’s house from beginning to end, including the planning phases. There are also links to articles about the landscaping Sandra and her husband did at their own home as well.
Pam of A New Lens shares her precious memories of passing on the canning skills she learned from her own mother to her daughter, daughter-in-law and granddaughters in her article Relational Legacy.
Lisa of Lisa Notes is celebrating her 16th blogging anniversary! Pop over to say congratulations and to read her wonderful essay Why Do You Blog (You Might Be Surprised).

September 1 seems like the beginning of fall to me, too. It won’t start feeling like fall for a few weeks yet, so I usually wait to put out fall decor then. I’m looking forward to crisp, cool breezes!

April, thank you for featuring my post about planning my MIL’s landscape renovation and installing a ton of plants. You made my day! Afternoon tea week sounds really delightful, but here it would have to be breakfast tea week, or we’d switch to iced tea LOL. It’s just been too darn hot! Regardless of what the calendar says, we will have summer weather for at least another month. Have a wonderful Fall!
