Katie Couric at BlogHer ’12
I’m absolutely buzzing after three wonderful days at BlogHer ’12. I met so many lovely people and learned such a lot. I’m feeling so inspired, and I’m developing some very exciting plans. First up though, is a serious hunt for a great web designer. The 21st Century Housewife website is going to get a long overdue makeover once I find someone I can trust with my ‘baby’. I also need to start learning how to use WordPress in preparation for this. It’s all very exciting. (And if you know a great web designer, particularly one who has done an iWeb to WordPress migration, please get in touch!)

The most exciting thing of all about this BlogHer ’12 conference was the recognition of the President of the United States that bloggers are powerful, influential women (and men) worthy of respect. His live by internet address was one of the highlights of the conference. You can read more about it here.
There was some serious talent amongst the other keynote speakers too. Martha Stewart rocked the house with her friendly, encouraging, optimistic outlook and some seriously fabulous shoes.

Lisa Stone’s interview of Katie Couric was a delight as well. Katie was so open and honest about her life, and her upbeat, powerful approach to the future was incredibly encouraging. I cannot tell you how much I wish her new show was going to broadcast in the UK. I’ll be sharing my favourite parts of the interviews of both these wonderful women in a separate post shortly.
Another highlight was the Women Influencers as Change Agents Keynote with Soledad O’Brien, Christy Turlington Burns and Malaak Compton-Rock. The way these three women use their influence to benefit others is an absolute inspiration.
Of course, there were plenty of great panel discussions covering just about everything you need to be the best blogger you can be, whether you want to educate, inspire, encourage or build your business. The best thing is, you don’t have to miss out if you weren’t there – and those of us who were can catch up on the sessions we missed (you can’t be everywhere at once) – with BlogHer’s Virtual Conference.
I was invited to some great parties with some incredible brands (more soon!). A special thanks to Nicole of Momtrends and Andrea of Savvy Sassy Moms for the invitation to their Style Suite, definitely the best event of the week!
The last BlogHer event I attended this conference was the BlogHer Style Show, a Day in the Life of a BlogHer, the most joyous, inclusive fashion show I have ever been to – a real celebration of the inner and outer beauty of so many incredible women bloggers.
I’m off to enjoy the last couple days of our family holiday now…more soon!
