Recently, I was invited to a makeover event to learn some beauty tips from Urban Decay. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the Urban Decay brand and to get some beauty tips from their makeup artists.
We were served sparkling wine and nibbles on our arrival at House of Fraser in The Oracle in Reading as we settled in to learn more about the history of this now iconic brand. Urban Decay was founded nearly twenty years ago by Sandy Lerner (cofounder of Cisco Systems), David Soward and Wende Zomnir. Sandy and Wende were inspired by a decaying urban landscape and motivated by a desire to find edgier colours in what seemed like a sea of pink.
Launching with just 10 lipsticks and 12 nail enamels, Urban Decay has gone from strength to strength. Their range now includes everything you could possibly need for thousands of amazing looks and includes the much sought after Naked palettes.
Next, it was time for our ‘speed dating’ makeovers. Moving between three makeup artists, we each got a new look for face, eyes and lips. Actually, as one blogger was late, I only had time for eyes and lips – but I still got some great tips along the way!
Beauty Tips from Urban Decay
Eyes
For a deeper crease and the illusion of a larger eye, apply a contour colour into the crease of your eyelid while looking down into a mirror. This allows you to place the colour higher and makes eyes pop. It’s also a great way to apply mascara to your top lashes as it means you can get the brush right to the base of the lashes.
Lips
Apply a base like Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil to the lip first to give a cleaner line and hold the colour.
Line the cupid’s bow first and move on from there. Colour in with lipliner before topping with lipstick for a lasting look.
Stepping outside your comfort zone when it comes to colour can lead to great things! A brighter, edgier pink than I would normally have chosen still looked classic and even made the blue of my eyes look even brighter.
As there wasn’t time to finish my makeover, I have been invited to come along after my travels for the full experience and more beauty tips from Urban Decay. I’m excited to learn more about the brand as well as the look their extensive product range can help me achieve.
On our departure, we were each given a treat from Hotel Chocolat as well as a fabulous beauty bag containing loads of makeup goodies from Urban Decay.
Disclosure: I attended this event on the invitation of Frank PR and received no compensation other than the goodie bags. All opinions contained in this post are, as always, honest and my own.
