My first experience of lemon dessert recipes as a child was a classic Lemon Meringue Pie. I loved the contrast of the sweet meringue with the sharp lemon filling and ever since then, I’ve been a huge fan of lemony desserts and treats. Whether it’s zingy Lemon Almond Streusel Bars or rich, creamy Baked Lemon Cheesecake, there’s something wonderfully fresh and uplifting about lemon dessert recipes.
Here I have gathered some of my favourite lemon dessert recipes, shared over the years on the blog. Whether you are looking for a special dessert or something delicious to enjoy with a cup of tea “just because”, there’s a recipe (or two!) for you here. Lemon Dessert Recipes
Lemon Cakes
Lemon Poppy Seed Pound Cake is a traditional pound cake recipe with vibrant lemon flavour and a lovely texture. It’s a cut and come again loaf I bake regularly and one of my favourite lemon dessert recipes.
A classic British teatime treat, Lemon Drizzle Cake is a delicious loaf cake soaked with a tangy lemon syrup after baking. The perfect balance of moist, sweet and tart, this classic recipe is perfect for any occasion.
Whether you want to make cupcakes, a light, deliciously moist layer cake or even mini bundts, this Lemon and Ginger Cake recipe is perfect. A tender, moist cake with a light flavour, this recipe lends itself to any occasion.
This raisin and ginger studded Lemon Ginger Pound Cake has a great depth of flavour and it keeps really well. I like to keep one under a cake dome in the kitchen, with a few plates and a knife alongside, so people can just help themselves when they fancy a slice.
Lemon Bars, Squares and Traybakes
These sweet yet tart Lemon Almond Streusel Bars are one of my favourite treats. They are perfect alongside a cup of tea or coffee or as part of an afternoon tea tray.
A twist on a classic, these Blueberry Bakewell Tart Squares combine sweet berries, almond frangipane, and a gentle hint of lemon.
I found the recipe for these Old-Fashioned Lemon and Walnut Squares in my late mom’s recipe box years ago and they have been part of the family ever since. They are pleasantly sweet with a little hint of tart, and the walnuts make for a lovely crunchy texture.
Lemon Cookie Recipes
Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, these Lemon Crinkle Cookies have a delicious sugar coating that makes them extra special.

Looks delightful…must make for my daughter and substitute my gluten free flour blend. Since being diagnosed Celiac she pretty much avoids all bread/cake-like foods but still craves goodies now and again.
