Warming and Comforting Desserts on AprilJHarris.com
Spring bulbs are starting to send up shoots and the blossoms are starting early here in the UK this year but we are still having cold, damp and windy days. Most places in the western hemisphere are in the same boat so it’s the perfect time to indulge in warming and comforting desserts, something to tide you over until spring arrives.

All of these recipes are tried and tested, desserts I make again and again, usually on request! They are perfect for entertaining or just a cozy family supper. From Caramel Croissant Pudding to Chocolate Blueberry Pudding Cake, there’s something for everyone here in this collection of family favourites. Of course, you don’t have to save these recipes for cold days, they are perfect for whenever a little comfort is required.

Comforting Desserts on AprilJHarris.com
Caramel Croissant Pudding is dessert nirvana and a great way to use up leftover croissants. (Does anyone actually have leftover croissants? I usually have to buy extra fresh croissants and let them go a little dry just to make this.)  As comforting desserts go, this one takes a little bit of effort to make but on the whole it is quite straight forward if you follow the recipe carefully. There are no words for how amazing this tastes. You really do have to try it!

Chocolate and Blueberry Pudding Cake

Chocolate and Blueberry Pudding Cake is a self-saucing beauty that everybody will love. Rich and chocolatey with a lovely blueberry hit, this is one of my all time favourite comforting desserts.

Strawberry Pudding Cake on AprilJHarris.com
This versatile recipe for Strawberry Pudding Cake is one I make again and again. It’s a bit lighter than the Chocolate and Blueberry Pudding Cake above but still warming, comforting and delicious. It tastes great cold too!

Chocolate and Pear Pudding Cake on AprilJHarris.com
Chocolate and Pear are wonderful partners and they really shine in this Chocolate Almond and Pear Pudding Cake. Served with a rich chocolate sauce, custard or vanilla ice cream, this recipe is a real winner in the dessert stakes. The recipe is made with canned pears so you probably have all the ingredients you need to make this comforting dessert on hand right now!

Blueberry Bread and Butter Pudding on AprilJHarris.com
Last but not least, this Blueberry Bread and Butter Pudding is a show-stopping dessert studded with plump, juicy blueberries and delicious pecans. It even doubles as a French Toast Casserole if you prefer a warming and comforting breakfast!

There’s nothing like a comforting dessert on a cold or wet day and there’s sure to be a family favourite in this collection. Does your family have a signature comforting dessert, one they make again and again? Let me know in the comments!

I think the caramel croissant pudding is my favorite but I will need to make them all to decide! Great stuff.

Wow… I love chocolate and pear together, and any dessert with “bread pudding” in its name is a winner with me. Actually, now I think of it, any pud served warm is probably going to be a hit at my table. Am sorry to say I’m trying to lose a few pounds, but maybe on a Saturday (the day of my weekly long run) I could justify a small helping! Great collection here, April!

Thank you, Pauline! I’m trying to eat more healthily at the moment too so I’m having to do one bite taste tests again!! It’s really hard, although I have plenty of other willing tasters so I’m grateful for that 🙂

That Caramel Coissant Pudding tho! Can we just talk about this for a minute? We LOVE coissants in our family – whenever we travel, at any hotel it’s always coissants for breakfast. My family will flip over this dessert – can’t wait to try it.
